Tire Tread Depth - Penny Test for Tire

In many states a tire is considered worn out of the tread depth is 2/32 of an inch. You can test the tire tread depth with a penny. Turn the penny so Lincoln's head points down into the tread. If his head disappears into the ribs, the tread is above 2/32 of an inch, and it's okay. If you can see his entire head, you may need to replace the tire because the tread isn't deep enough.
