Nokia N8 Hands-on Overview from Nokia World 2010

We have Nokia N8 hands-on demo from Sami Maala, one of the Product Managers at Nokia. This was taken from Nokia World in London.

Mr. Maala goes over the hardware and software features. The Nokia N8 has a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen, 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash, HD video recording, Symbian^3, and more. You can enjoy HD-quality video with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound by plugging into your home theatre system.

Powering the Nokia N8 is Symbian ^3, which introduces several major advances, including support for multi touch on the device's 3.5in capacitive touchscreen. The Nokia N8 also offers multiple, personalizable homescreens which can be loaded with apps and widgets. The new 2D and 3D graphics architecture in the platform takes full advantage of the Nokia N8′s hardware acceleration to deliver a faster and more responsive user interface.

Symbian^3 also promises to deliver greater memory management allowing more applications to run in parallel for a faster multi-tasking experience.

One more thing that was shown was support for USB-on-the-Go. A 250GB external drive was connected to the Nokia N8 and you can even copy or move files around.

DUDE.. I mean. This is sick hardware and a slick platform. But, other platforms, and their immense and diverse application sources make them more than just phones, music players and location based devices. That is why they succeed to such a ridiculously high degree.

@TheAlcarin oh ok sorry but there has to be someone from finland that speaks english properly, not perfectly! are you with nokia/nokia blog? do you know if there will be an update for the N8 to symbian^4 or when the new web broswer update will be avalaible for the N8?? thanks

However iono about $550 unsubsidized...with only 256MB RAM & a 680MHZ processor. All the bells & whistles promised simply cannot function quickly with the hardware provided. It just doesn't add up for me. I hope all works well for you.

@JeMiodhih Hey, we are from finland, we dont speak english as our native Language, and our language is completely differently pronounced from english, so its hard to find perfect english speaking finnish guy, i would say impossible.

@07liberian I wouldn't go as far as to say that it'll be $400 overnight. I expect Amazon and others to hover around $450- $500 when they get their share in, given that the N97 when launched was $699 from Nokia and $600 from Amazon.
