✅ Keep in mind, when squaring a side length for a square, this is just like doing length times width. We are multiplying a side by a side in both cases. For rectangles, we multiply the length times the width (not all sides are the same, so we determine a length and a width). For squares, we square a side length which is just multiplying a side length by a side length (all the sides are the same, so we can just square a side length).
