Nikon, we want N-Log recording internally! You can do it. Just release a firmware update with it. Make Nikon greater without an Atomos Recorder!

I genuinely believe that if Nikon allows NLog internal, then sales will fly through the roof. I mean the color science is amazing already, why are they holding back so much?

I'll buy this camera when it will support internal Nlog . I don't want to buy Atomos, as i already have three different external monitors and i just need recording Nlog on internal card

Unbelievable that in year 2020 there is no option to record N-log internal. That’s real sad and for many a good reason not to buy a Nikon. So what’s the problem to implement N-Log?

This is an excellent video for both camera and Ninja settings.

N-log internal issues a must. Flat is just not enough. This is a B cam for my C300 III and internal log would make it easy to match

It would be REALLY nice if you made a similar HowTo video for a Z8.

The whole thing with N-Log is to reduce highlights and boost shadows. There are custom profiles available that do that just as well and record internally. I use one called J-log. It works well. However, I actually shoot everything with the flat profile with my metering set to matrix highlight, which prevents blowing out highlights. For the foreseeable future, the output will be in rec.709, which is 8-bit (we will only get to rec.2020 after every component in the system, including cameras, monitors, and TV sets, is replaced.) So, shooting in 10-bit is a waste of both time and money for everything except Hollywood-level projects. The biggest time and money sink is post production. The best way to reduce those costs is to shoot in the correct profile at the correct white balance at correct exposure with good lighting and sound. If the flat profile doesn't work for a particular scene, you can use one of the built-in profiles, or create your own using Nikon's free utility. Nikon's default color science right out of the camera is superior to all others and better than anything 95% of us can come up with shooting in Pro Res Raw or N-log and applying LUT's from unknown sources or rolling your own color configuration.

Why isn't this internal? Are you really telling us you cant do what a Panasonic gh5s can do?

I don't know what the hell the people at Nikon are thinking, because the inability of its cameras to shoot LOG without a recorder means unnecessary weight and expense.

Would it be possible to do firmfare update for D7500 to enable 10bit recording for HDMI output since Z-series got now N-log? Awesome camera else, but missing 10bit.

And the d600 for when they release a firmware that has a live histogram on the video and a video focus on the screen. Help us that you have currently had the d600 for 7 years and get out of the problem that it generated at work ..

After following the instructions I still can’t turn on nlog. Get an error saying this option is not available at current settings or in the cameras current state.
