Gonna be applying to ICU after almost 2 years of Medsurg! Man the ratio I started with was 1:10/9 with no charge nurse (they get 9 patients as well). Still getting 8 patients up to this day. I do not know how I lasted this long. I feel like I aged 20 years and I am only 23.

Did ER for over year and just quit. It’s been overwhelming juggling all types of patients from the needy ones to the most critical ones that I have to ship to ICU or cath lab. Hopefully ICU will be better for me.

medsurg units where I have worked ratios are 6-8 to 1. I worked on a step down with 6 patients. I cant do it anymore. I want to transition to ICU.
