A few corrections -

#1 - full frame doesn’t really affect sharpness, but it can effect noise and relative depth of field. Lens quality and pixel density will determine maximum sharpness. So using the same lens at the base ISO you will get slightly more sharpness from the a6700 than the a7 iii or the a7s iii or even the a9 (I, II, or III). What’s probably affecting your sharpness is the sigma lenses, which are great, but not technically amazing compared to Sony G and G Master offerings.

#2 - you aren’t experiencing more missed focus because you are using APS-C lenses, you are experiencing more missed focus because you are using third party lenses with slower stepping focus motors. The Sony G aps-c lenses hold up really well compared to the full frame G lenses (but there are obviously no g master tier lenses in the APS-C world).

Respectfully disagree. The Sony 15/1.4 is smaller then the Sigma 24/2, let alone the 16mm. The Sony 11/1.8 is a small wonder. Both Sigma and Sony have really small high quality wide angle zooms that cannot be matched by full frame lenses. The bodies are smaller to. Adding price, and APS-C is a great small and cheap alternative. I take out my A7r4 for the highest quality and my A6400 for the most fun with APS-C lenses.

Just picked up my a6700 as my first camera, and it's been a blast so far, don't think i need ff, the small package of the 6700 is a big plus for me

" 2:20 "The larger the sensor, the more detail you get when you zoom into the image, or you print an image." What on earth makes you think that is the case?

your autofocus misses are because of the Sigma Sony a Sony lens and you will never miss the autofocus

Thanks for the update! Agree that the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 largely defeats the point of aps-c because of its size, especially when when compared to smaller full-frame options. The better option for aps-c is the Sony 15mm f/1.4 g lens! It's an identical focal length and DoF as Sigma 24mm f/2 on full-frame, while being smaller and with flawless autofocus performance. Really wish Sony would make a full f/1.4 lineup of G-series primes for aps-c (much like it did for full-frame with the compact 24mm, 40mm, and 50mm g lenses). That would really allow the a6700 to reach its full potential.

Thank you for the video. Been to Japan many times but never Australia. Live here in the US. I bought a A6700 to try as well. I own many full size full frame Sony cameras but now trying out the A7CII to get a body as small and with the same great sensor as the A7IV which I sold last year. Take a look at it. I’m impressed with its upgraded features over the A7IV even with only one card slot. I do use both Sigma I-Series and the Sony small G lenses on the A7CII to keep it small. On APS-C really like 15mm f;1.4 G Sony. Take care.

The Sigma 16 f1.4 isn’t that huge. Let’s be honest. Unless your criteria is you MUST be able to put it in your pocket mounted. I can do that with the 30 and the 56.
I am running the a7iv with Sigma 24 f1.4 dg dn now and it’s only a bit bigger but more weight overall.

What's annoying is this apsc vs ff debate. Both can be equally productive depending on your needs. This video simply reiterates cliches about these formats -

Been using mine for over a year for wildlife with the 200-600 in good light No issues. For short work I use it with the Tamron 17-70 2.8 super sharp lens.. very good crop camera compared to other offerings.

I love my a6700 and my A7IV, the Sigma 16mm isnt that huge compared if you've been working with full frame lenses

I'd like to switch from APSC - Sony A6400 to fullframe, but to be honest... I was about dreaming of having A7IV last year, but when A7C-II came up with A7R-V features, I literally gave up on A7IV, it's like heavier with lack of features... and you don't buy a camera every year, so.. having additional features you never know when you are going to use, is just better to have... I don't know if it is just better to wait for A7-V in 2024 probably..

Great work! Just a question, does the lack of a joystick cause problems in auto focusing? My use is for wildlife.

I’m Little confused, FE lenses are fullly compatible with E mount (aps-c) cameras. Not sure why one would need specific aps-c lenses when a pre-existing FE kit was available. Same for aperture specifications, an f/1.4 FE lens is still a f/1.4 lens on a aps-c body. The internal focus specifications may affect their individual performance. Same deal with bokeh and detail, as you wonderfully described 😁

What camera would you recommend for vlogging and talking head videos ?

Thoughts on upgrading from an A6000 to either an A6700 or A7R III? If you had to choose which one?
