NASM Personal Trainer Exam Pass Tips!
#1 Top Study Tip
It sounds so simple, but I really didn’t put this into practice until I heard Doug mention it in a video. When it comes to things that are more challenging to remember: Write, rewrite, rewrite, and then say them out loud without looking. Keep doing this! I was struggling to remember the OA/UA muscles in pes planus syndrome, upper crossed sydrome, and lower crossed syndrome. It seemed impossible! Once I did what Doug suggested, I was actually remembering them! Also, make a list of which muscles are typically OA and UA in general for all postural distortions. I made a list. This helped immensely on the exam and helped me narrow down answers!
#2 Top Study Tip
Take many practice tests!! Take the BDU tests and NASM tests. They were slightly different but equally helpful when it came to exam time. It helps you figure out where you’re weak and also gets you familiar with what exam questions will look like. I made note cards for every single question I missed and read rhem any time I had free time. This really helped!
#3 Top Study Tip
Do not let yourself get bogged down by the text. I wasted so much time reading and not understanding. Like BDU has mentioned, skim through the book then listen to their chapter reviews and take notes on key concepts you don’t understand. Listening to someone else explain things (vs just reading myself) helped me immensely! That’s when things started to click.
Make it happen!
