In this episode of Act Bold, I share my personal experience of returning to acting at the age of 47 after years of being a mom and wife living in Germany. I fought stereotypes, self-doubt, and fierce opposition from loved ones, but eventually became part of the 2% of actors who make their living entirely from their art.

I believe that anyone can pursue their dreams, no matter their age and talk about the stories of several well-known actors who didn't achieve success until they were over 40 We also go into the things that will give you, the mature actor, a big advantage in the industry.

We talk about how to make fear your ally, how to face everything and rise, and how to tap into the power of your mind with a special emphasis on acting as a business that requires skills in mindset, marketing, branding, networking, and community.

So to answer the question is 40 too old to start an acting career? No!! It's never too late to pursue your dreams and do what brings you joy and fulfillment.

I am in a pretty much similar situation, thanks for sharing! Best point is the fear, of failing and also in a way to making it too. To reach a result that opens you a new door, a new life, at an established age, when you think is all routine. But then it turns to be a rollercoaster again. In good and in bad. Great point

I am getting back into acting as well in my 40's and taking more classes. I am going to now focus on the Business side of acting which I failed to do when I started 20 years ago.

This is extremely motivating thank you. I am 31 and was really convincing myself that it may be too late but this is showing me that is not the case. I don’t want to continue sitting on my dreams. Thank you for being an inspiration.

The first time I moved to Los Angeles and started working on a professional acting career I was in my 40s also in 2003. 10 years later I was in Sag-Aftra and have credits on IMDb and a few better auditions and initially did a lot of extra work and subbing while training and auditioning. As an older single/divorced woman I’ve moved back and forth from Texas since Hollywood can be pricey. It can be pricey now here in Texas too and I work on getting actor friendly work too. I can’t afford to go back out there right now but maybe in the future but they are building more studios in Texas too and also Oklahoma.
