Speed, power and accuracy the Slingshot and Shepherds Staff Sling Go head to head on all three fronts. Ballistics gel, melons, Soda cans And five eights plywood Nothing is safe From the fury of the flying rocks shot from the slingshot Or the shepherds staff sling! I made a special slingshot just for the occasion So it would have the capability I'm shooting As large as as a rock as possible. My hope was that it could keep up With my friend Jason's Staff slang. He's been convinced for years That the Shepard slang that David used in the Bible Was not the sling we see and all the pictures. That in fact The sling that David used to slay Goliath Was actually a staff slang. The story of David and GoliathIt's fairly well known But what a lot of people miss Is the mention of David are having a staff Along with his slang. Jason is convinced me That more than likely That David's Staff Was not a separate entity but part of his sling equipment. Providing him with A stronger shepherd slang That could throw larger rocks. So he brought it over and we're going to put it to the test And see if I can't out slingshot his shepherds staff slang.

I don't know exactly how I got here but it does my heart good to find other people that obviously are believers.
God Bless you folks.

The fact that you could make the staff with a broom stick, a paracord bracelet and a little bit of cloth is astounding.

A good staff sling stick should be of ash or similar wood. The 'spring' of the stick adds a huge amount of power, over and above the leverage. We did trials at St Albans and were getting 200m+ with smallish cobblestones. Using lead balls produces horrendous damage :)

Basic and Staff Slings are largely underappreciated these days but they were a popular skirmisher weapon in ancient warfare. Since none of that stuff survives more than a year left out in the open, it's hard to gauge just how prevalent they were but think what a few mates could do to a group of closely packed combatants with those things.

A great video.

personally I like the sling because you can make one out of things readily available, and bands wouldn't be easy to get in a survival situation.

Can you imagine what kind of damage a prime, young athlete could do with this? Like, baseball pitchers can throw a ball at 100mph. Imagine an athlete at that level who has practiced with the staff sling since young age. I think they'd put every rock through that plywood

Staff Sling. Ideal weapon for a D&D Druid. Druidic Focus, Shillelagh, and Magic Stone all without needing to use your object interaction.

Such a good demo and applause for the rethink on David’s sling - very plausible.

Well done.

Best Staff Sling video on YouTube, with actual calculations and comparison almost like a firearm review video.

Most other fustibal videos show how to make or a slow-no video of slinging technique. Nice, but this extra detail you have is much appreciated.

I've read the David story a 100 times and never thought of that possibility.... thanks

The other advantage to the staff is that you can easily adapt a shepherd's sling to the staff and make it instantly becomes a staff sling.

Great video guys!! One main point in David’s story, God was in control of that rock.

The sound of impact on that board is highly satisfying.

The leverage and speed you put into that rock from the staff greatly amplifies the momentum of the stone. It’s quite an interesting weapon.

If I mention what type of videos I watch to most people, including my dad, I end up giving nature, history or physics lessons for hours because >>NOW<< they want to know.
Thank you for doing weird s*** I love to watch! I got no one else to share this with, else I'll be teaching for free the rest of my life...

The romans i belived trained peasants from spain to throw rocks with stick slings and regular slings from 3 years of age until they could throw the length of several fotball fields. Rome went to great lengths to find perfect stones and they also melted olive shaped lead bullets up to the size of a small orange. You can imagine being hit by one of those from that far away and perhaps high up on a hill coming down on you in great numbers! I have heard theres accounts of fully armored medieval knights having been killed by those along with the horse in the same hit! Often they carved jokes and taunts on them and some have been found with drilled holes so they scream or whistle in flight! You guys should try melting a few of those ;)

Possibly one of the best slingshoters today. This guy's accuracy is unbelievable. He reminds me of Bedouin kids using slings years ago in the middle east. They never missed and always hit what they were aiming at.

That was great! I've never seen a staff sling before. With that kind of leverage, I can see it working really well! I used to hunt squirrels as a kid with a wrist rocket sling shot. I was really good at it, mostly head I can't hit the tree they are in!

I think it's a tie. When I was a young boy I learned how to make a slingshot from a metal clothes hanger, a bunch of rubber bands and a small piece of leather. I recently taught my son how to make one. I'm almost 38 but still a big kid on the inside. Watching your video kinda took me back in time. I had a big smile on my face. You guys looked like you were having a blast. Thank you. You got my like & sub. Keep up the good work.

I certainly wouldn't want to be hit by either of those! Ouch!
