To any beginner reading this - This is the man, the myth, the legend. I remember a few years ago just surfing the web to find a good place for learning guitar from. this video, no, this playlist, no, this man has helped me become what I have today, I've played at concerts, festivals, and won many prizes if you carefully follow what Nate says you'll be progressing in guitar faster than you thought. Just stay determined and keep focused, and remember if you can't do something no matter how hard you try; you're probably doing it wrong, correct your self and try again.

Hello Nate,  My grand daughter asked for piano lesson a few years ago. Done!  Having progressed very well with her piano teacher, she wants to learn to play the guitar.  My hunting partner sold her one of his guitars and she's on it like a duck on a bug.  She also threw the gauntlet my way challenging me to learn to play also. Not being a down stream grandpa, I went to our local music store and bought one, along with a few beginner books. (That's on a par with teaching yourself how to play golf ).  So, I goggled "How to play guitar for beginners" and up jumped Nate Savage.  I'm 72 and wear hearing aids so I get a little frustrated with speed talking would be instructors.  You, sir, are the very best instructor of a long list of instructors on the internet.  "I sincerely thank you for the hands on, excellent diction and your great presentation for us beginners.  I have actually learned to read notes without penciling them in.  Thank you Sir.  Roger L. It's a pity that there was no internet and no lessons like this when I was seventeen. I would have been surely very happy with it. I had when I was 17 one year guitarlesson, but the teacher gave lessons of composers of the 19th century, like Carulli, Carcassi. That was not what I was looking for. So after one year I stopped with the guitar. Later on I tried again on my own, but it never became really good. Now I am 66 and have not so much energy to start again. But wonderful that you give this lessons. I think many people appreciate it very much and can learn good guitar playing. Thank you very much.

I must say that in a short span of time I've learned that I need to know more than what I think I already knew... this was an eye opener for me as well as an encouragement... keep rockin' Nate! Firstly, I appreciate the instruction. Thank you. I started about 3 weeks ago. and have spent most of that time simply getting my fingers in shape. I am now able to go between most cords of the 4 beginner cords within about one second or less, except for going to D major. I have practiced going from G maj to D maj for a couple hours a day for 3 days and it still takes too long! And I still have some trouble getting the D maj correctly. I feel like I should be further along. I would appreciate any feedback you may have to offer.

I'm 56 and I have short stubby fingers. lol. But, I love the sound of the acoustic guitar. Thanks to Simon & Garfunkel. Learning how to play an acoustic guitar has been on my bucket list since my teen years. I was gifted a guitar by a stranger sitting my recuperation time so now I'm on the path. Wish me luck! Very good that you spoke about the hands not being the wrong size or how your age doesn't matter. These are a definite concern for people. It was my hands for me and I'm just picking up a guitar at 37. My age, I wasn't worried about, although I can see how that might be a worry for some people. Yes my hands are what I had reservations about. I always thought big long lanky fingers where ideal for guitar playing. Thankfully, my average size hands move around pretty good on the guitar. It's only been 3 days and I'm feeling more and more comfortable with the strings everyday. I guess my point is that if I watched this video before I started practicing; I would not have worried so much. I think it's great that you mention these things right away along with other things that might put people off, so to assure your audience none of the above is cause to worry. (Confident) is a good way to begin.
