Because the sentence contains a grammatical error: Instead of "der KI" it should be "die KI" because for some reason intelligence is female in german. I suspect that it's inherited the mistake from its training data since english only has one article versus german's three articles, which many translation programs (including google translate) struggle with. Very interesting to see it "fail" at this relatively easy task while succeding in writing functioning code that even fulfills multiple requirements.

Its very cool to look at this video again after chatgpt has been out for a while. You can see a lot of similarities but also all of the things that are different. Gpt-j just keeps continuing and even starts making up the users side in a conversion too, which is something that the devs at Openai apparently had to work very hard to fix
