I have been watching Rest is Politics for a long time now and I have never comment before but today I am making an exception to my self-imposed rule. Rory and Alastair are brilliant. Just the way the relate to each other speaks profoundly. The interview with Justin was brilliant. And despite the many things I struggle with living in this country, today I am proud to call Britain my adopted homeland.

I loved what Welby said: ‘My identity is in Jesus Christ not my DNA’. I was born when my mother was married to her first husband but he was not my biological father. I have struggled with my identity all my life but listening to Welby has really made me think about what is important. My identity is in Jesus Christ.

Can’t say I agreed with everything said this interview but it’s refreshing to see such a mainstream figure being so honest and displaying such a clear understanding of the world.

À wonderful interview! The archbishop was so open and honest and the way in which both of you interviewed him revealed beautiful aspects of yourselves!

Thank you, Arch Bishop Welby, Alastair, and Rory, for sharing this deeply personal and spiritually enriching conversation with us. I learned so much during this hour, and for that, I thank you again. Cheers from Deutschland!

On behalf of my Roman Catholic ancestors from the village of Ein Karem (alternatively 'Ayn-Karim') in Jerusalem, the village from which my family took our Anglicised name - thank you, Justin, for speaking for those who have no voice of their own.

This was a wonderful interview. There is so much about ++Justin that we here in the US don't get to see and here about - especially his diplomatic and peacemaking efforts. Thank you!

As a survivor of clergy abuse in the Church of England I have had cause to correspond with Archbishop Justin on a number of occasions; and sadly, my experience has been far from satisfactory which is not a unique experience only to me. However, this was a very good interview and I got the feeling that Archbishop Justin has mellowed quite a bit in recent years, so all credit to him.

Justin Welby's interview was profound & very human. A good example of Christian faith in action, on the political, social & religious spheres.

Justin came to speak at Eton and it was one of the very best talks I have heard in 24 years of teaching there

I wonder if Rory and Alistair regret not asking Welby about child abuse within the CoE. Obviously, this was filmed three weeks before the Makin report came out, but how does one do such a wide-ranging interview with the chief bishop of the Church of England and not even tangentially discuss child abuse? Instead, what we get is 1 hour and 16 minutes of Alistair and Rory throwing mostly softball questions at a guy they clearly like and admire, allowing him to come across as a lovely and decent man. This makes it both fascinating and horrifying to watch the interview (and read the comments) now that we know that Welby failed to ensure that child abuse by John Smyth was investigated, and now that the Makin report has stated: "It is the opinion of the reviewers that it was unlikely that Justin Welby would have had no knowledge of the concerns regarding John Smyth in the 1980s in the UK." Next time Rory and Alistair decide to produce a puff piece, I hope they choose their subject more wisely.

Love Justin Welby. He’s the only man in high office who ever asked me what I did, where I came from, and what I wanted to do. Never got that from any MP’s I met
