I can imagine a Scottish ancestor of mine hearing about the horrors of the Darien and still thinking “anywheres better than Glasgow”

I’m from Panama. Nobody went into Darien (it’s a province). Also the Kuna (now Guna) have the highest incidences of albinism of any other people. They call them “moon children” and it’s very common to see them in the cities.
The mola artwork of course is beautiful.

My husband is from Panama and spent his childhood crawling through the jungles of the Darien Gap. He has seen some CRAZY things, and it has made him believe in the supernatural.

I have so much respect for Bald and Bankrupt for his traversal and video on travelling the gap

The Darien gap has been crossed now by so many people, that there is literally a road there now. They trampled a path the entire length. And it is now wide enough and smooth enough you could probably get at least a 4x4 through it.

Weird looking jaguar at 29:34. Perhaps he’s migrated from Africa using cheetah airlines.

29:34 sir, that’s a cheetah! Not a jaguar. Not even the right continent for this cat!

I have never been to the Darien but as a teenager I spent some time in remote jungles in Honduras. They were terrifying enough, and it sounds like they were maybe 1/10th as bad as this.

Why wouldn’t they just do a long stretch of ocean highway bridge around it?

People crossing the gap doesn't really show what people will do for survival as those people could have settled in numerous countries before the gap, it is more of an indication of what people will do for the money

Just a fyi, listening on earphones and hearing loud thuds every time your hands hit the table.

These are not 'migrants', Simon.

Supported by NGO's that are, ultimately supported by the UN and even the US, this is a coordinated and well funded assault upon the US. Among what you call, 'migrants', are hostile invasion forces from the middle east, Africa and China.

As if that were not bad enough, among them also are what were the inhabitants of prisons and psychiatric institutions across South America. Venezuela even openly bragging about record low crime and prison populations.

Some of them set up within the gap itself and acting as 'highwaymen', robbing solitary men and raping what women & children daring to cross.

Once across the gap, they're giving supplies and transportation north by the NGO's I mentioned.

This is an invasion masquerading behind the narrative you've swallowed hook, line and sinker.

As someone who lives in the US and isn't super crazy about their life currently but also has nothing really to complain about, hearing about this definitely helps me appreciate what I do have. Hope it gets easier for the migrants.

Funny how this is considered a super dangerous place and people have been crossing it on foot, on bicycles and in cars.

But add a few hostile humans, and nobody dares going there.
