Inserts can also be used as an audio output Jack to record to an interface or tape machine by using the 1/2 click method (pushing a T/S instrument cable 1/2 click into the insert Jack, and then into the interface) I find this to be a great way of recording because it’s pre-fader, and pure un colored audio.

Really love the clarity of your videos! Very few people explain these things thoroughly and you do that amazingly, thank you! You're also the reason why I bought the Mackie Profx10v3! Great mixer! Two years in however I'm still baffled with how to use FX SEND! In particular I am confused on how to connect a (stereo out) effect pedal such as a reverb or delay to the board (say for my voice) and how to get the right 'blend' out? The user manual is super cryptic about it. Thank you in advance! 🙏

I was not aware that the signal leaves and comes back through the same "insert" point. I thought the signal left and had to be returned to a separate channel. Thank you for sharing!

This is super handy, thank you! My mixer doesn't have an insert, but my dbx 286s does. This will take less cables and messing with AUX in and out to work now.

I'm digging your instructional videos and learning a lot. The only topic I would love to see covered is the Foot Switch. Some mixers have them and I have no idea what they are for and how they are used. I assume its for a stomp pedal, but does it then go to each individual channel and add that to the whole mix or is it routable?

Great content, clear and straightforward, thanks much. How would you wire this to a patch bay?

What is the difference between connecting outboard gear via insert and connecting via line in?

My setup:
Mic to tube preamp via XLR
Preamp to comp XLR channel 1
Compressor to eq via XLR channel 1
Eq to UMC404HD interface via XLR channel 1
Interface to Mac

I just am confused on the difference. I also have insert jacks on the back of my interface for each channel. What is the difference in using them, what could they be used for in my situation, and would you change anything?

Thanks for your informative video!!
