So how do you toggle overwrite text on a mac keyboard? I'm running chrome on my windows 10 pc and I'm using my old mac keyboard. I somehow turned on overwrite on a gmail message and now I can't figure out how to turn it off. I thought it would be the 'fn' key since it's right where the INS key would be, but that ain't it.

If all else fails, and your on an HP laptop (though, this probably works with all computer types), just save your progress, close the doc, and open it again.

If you have an HP envy x350 keyboard the did not make an insert key on the keyboard. None of the tips work. Simply power off your laptop and power on, it resets the overwright feature back to its original setting and then you will not have typing overwrite words.

Hi hope you can help me, I have a keyboard and some how I got it stuck in a mode that I can only use the F keys. So I can't type on it but I can still control the volume brightness and so on, but I cant get it out of this mode idk how.

Thank you! It's trauma like this, in the many ways it appears as a person learns how to use a program that makes a person not want to ever have to learn a new program. The experts making all the new computer systems and programs to earn their money need to wake up and realize that everyone out there is not a computer geek and does not have the time or mental capacity to completely learn new systems every couple years. Stick to the old programs and computer systems. If the only way they can make their money is to create new systems and programs, then just modify the old with with added features so not to drive the less computer savvy people crazy. 🙂
