The way you work together as a family is a beautiful thing

This reminded me of my childhood. The whole family sat on the porch and shelled peas and beans. We all talked and laughed. I grew up in Malvern, Arkansas and purple hull peas were our favorite. Thank you for stirring my heart to great memories.

My wife and I love this channel! Tried making kimchi for the first time using your blog post and it is the best kimchi we've ever had. You inspired us to look for a place with 30+ acres and start a self sufficiency journey. Thank you and keep the videos coming!

1980 and my new bride and I cooked up a batch of chili. We both tasted it, and then my wife left to take a shower. I decided to add a generous amount of ground black pepper. When she came out of the shower, then it was my turn. She was giving the chili a stir, and had decided while she was in the shower that it needed more black pepper, so she added a generous amount. When I got out of the shower, I did a taste test, and WOW it was hot. We figured out what we each had done with adding more pepper. She tasted it, and said she wouldn't be able to eat it. I admitted that I couldn't either. So I ran to the grocery store just down the street and bought enough meat, sauce, and kidney beans to make another entire big batch – which we did NOT season, and mixed the two together. It was great. We ate some and froze some and had chili for weeks.

I don’t know if you need to hear this… but on the days your tired, when you think gosh.. I just can’t, when the prepping, planning and canning seems long hours. Just remember… you have a community here who look to you like a teacher, your sharing a skill which in most worlds and communities, cultures is lost. Then when you do, stand up.. stretch and tell your children. Momma, today help stop food waste and momma inspired a person to plant 🪴 something like one tomato plant .. but, it was something, inspired by your blog xx

I remember in one of your recent videos you were almost in tears about many of your tomato plants being basically drowned to death, and now here you are harvesting 60 pounds at once! I’m so glad your diligence and hard work with the tomatoes paid off ☺️

I can’t wait to see your pantry tour this year! I’ve watched your others numerous times! Love these videos. I have more of an urban homestead and work full time so I really need the motivation to keep me going.

God Bless You! That is a lot of work on top of taking care of your kids needs and running the household. I grew up in the city in Massachusetts. If the girls here ever seen how much you do they would never leave Boston, lol

Hi hello, beautiful family, I admire you all, as a whole family getting on with it no matter what the weather or time it is, I grew up with that kind of live but the old way, not as modern as you are equipped, where we where self sufficient with ours foods, at the time, I didn't realise how much happier and healthier I was, today I try to get back to it in a very small garden, what I mean is, it's make sense to enjoy the Hard work as much as you can with your kids.they learn as they grow up believe me that's is the biggest present any parents could offer to young children.❤ From France.

Freeze drying is hands down the best and easiest way to put back your garden. We have freeze dried so many tomatoes, blackberries, basil, tomatillos, cucumbers and green beans from this years garden it's crazy. Good thing we have 3 big freezer.

I CANNOT tell you the feel of joy I felt when your video popped up a few minutes ago❤️
I am so happy to see you using your freeze dryer so much 😁 I'm sure your abundance of preserved food will serve you well.
So, obviously your tomatoes turned out good this year 👍 I was wondering if you planted (transplanted) a good amount of sauce tomatoes? How did that end up?
You all are so wonderful and I enjoy the whole family so much!!
Ok...I gotta go...need to watch the video again 😂
P.S. I hope when you do all of your tours you include all of the freeze dried food (even in Mylar bags)

I’ve watched others that freeze dry the skins/seeds after then blender them into tomato powder which can be added to lots of things for flavor.

My parents have a freeze dryer. For Christmas and Easter in addition to a very small amount of candy I give my kids a wide variety of freeze-dried fruit and fruit leather. I've been doing that for about 4 years and they get so excited over the fruit

Thank you so much for your videos. They are so informative and inspiring. I have tried so many new things/preserving methods this year because of you. You're one of the few humble people out there that inspires action rather than envy :)
