Most important to do a test ride - check pedals for existence✌🏻

When buying used be aware of the condition of the front fork, rear shock and bushing/bearing (on full suspension) they can be costly to repair/replace. You need to find out how many hours they were used and what service was done.

Also check for any play in the hubs, cranks. Nice one dude!

One should also check the bottom bracket, headset and hubs for play.

Check welds for cracks...all that you explained are add-ons...the framework is the bike...🚲❣️

Could i suggest following each "check" with what to check? Without, this lacks any meaningful suggestions. For example, check the chain by measuring wear like this.... Also, repeat on dropper comments above. Some play can be totally fine and not a sign of wear depending on the dropper.

You could put Flip flops on your handle bars when flipping it

I bought 2 MTB for 325, one has a rear swing arm crack in an area where no much stress happens, JB weld to the rescue, other one needed a wash.
Been jumping and riding them like there is no tomorrow perfect.
when I got them I was like yeah it's a fully.
Yeah yeah if I paid 1k-2k I would look them over much more but for 325 pff I'm glad they have working brakes and the parts on them costs more, just the forks are 100 a piece

You also gotta check for flat spots on rims. I know there not very common, but there super annoying. Riding rims with a flat spot isn’t dangerous on alloy rims, but it feels wonky and normally results in buying new rims.

You can’t check for dropper movement but every sub £200 dropper I ever seen has a bit of slack after a while.

Especially the Brand X Ascent (not knocking it, it’s an outstanding post considering it’s also the cheapest!)

I bought a high-end one for 900 and I basically have to service everything (and the things that don't need it stil gets serviced by me so I know its state of wear)
