"It's a person. A doctor declares her dead, not the news." I couldn't stand Don for most of the series but that line right there breaks me every time.

The Giffords watched the show, and someone (Sorkin maybe) called them before it aired just in case they were fans and told them the storyline. No one wanted them to be caught off guard.

Don’t ever let the sales guy tell the journalists how to do the news.

I really would have killed to see this show cover the last 8 years..what a god damn shame.

Every time I hear this song, I think of this scene. And having not watched it for maybe a few years, coming back today... almost cried. Just an incredible, moving piece of television.

4:23 "Just breathe regular." I love this moment. Everyone who's used to the chaos can handle heavy stuff like a boss, but there's always someone on staff who just freezes. You just gotta remind them, hey, you're a human being in the moment. You're okay.

This scene introduced Coldplay to me and my life has never been dull since then. Forever grateful ♥️

"Joey, just breathe regular." The weight on this man's soul here aches my heart.

Holy shit. I remember this when I was a kid.
This was my aunt too. I'm literally fucking gutted watching this. I was not expecting to see this tonight.
Kudos to HBO and The Newsroom. One of the best tv shows ever created that I miss dearly.
The absolute humanity shown for Aunt Gabby.

To me, the crowning moment of this scene is the 30 seconds starting around 2:50. Will is basically eyeball-to-eyeball with the #2, #3 and #4 in command of Atlantis Cable News and he has to make the impossible call. And the best part is how Charlie Skinner - the President of ACN - trusts him to do it. He doesn’t micromanage, he doesn’t get in the way, he just lets Will make the call. That kind of trust is so rare and it is captured beautifully here, if only for Hollywood purposes.

4:08: "YOU'RE A FUCKING NEWS MAN, DON! I EVER TELL YOU OTHERWISE, YOU PUNCH ME IN THE FACE!"
(Slow blink) "Okay, but you're back in thirty."

"Anyone else?" "No." "Then she's not dead yet." That entire exchange was written and executed so well.

And I still get chills with Don- "It's a person. A doctor pronounces her dead, not the news."

Damn, I miss this show so much!

Reading the comments, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who finds this one of the most emotional pieces of TV ever...

Charlie's silent reaction to Don's call by turning it to Will tells the whole beauty of this scene

The tiniest little things, like the tear in Joey's eye as he erases the dates under her name, are why this show's attention to detail puts it SO far above others of its time.

Jed Bartlet to Leo: "you tell Ron if he wants me in the bunker that he better bring more than just a couple of guys"
Will Mcavoy to Charlie: "you tell Leona if she wants me out of this chair that she better bring more than just a couple of guys"

Season 1 of The Newsroom was so amazing. If they could have kept that momentum going this could have been a historic show, IMO.

"That's EXACTLY WHAT I'LL FUCKING TELL HER."

Charlie is so pumped that Will gives a shit again lol he's awesome!

An absolutely brilliant piece of television, where everything comes together, great script, cast, acting, timing, music, the whole works. I'll have to wait a while for another series like this to come along. But, I'm a patient man. I can
