She is a two-time Disney Princess and inducted as a Disney Legend. She is a Tony Award winner. She is an Olivier Award winner. PERIODT.

She sang as if she was telling a story (HER story) and I felt her short-lived happiness, heartbrokenness, pain and despair 😢 brought tears to my eyes…

Now you need to react to Lea when she starred in Miss Saigon. There’s a reason why she won the Tony award for best actress in a musical

I just love her. Right there at the very end - the song is over but the wonderful actress stays in character through the applause.

If you are singing 5-7x a week for these broadway shows, you’ll probably understand better why Lea is doing these mix techniques like “operatic-contemporary..ish mixing” that you noticed picking. This is acceptable to protecting her voice, you should listen to some of her interviews as well. The musical geniuses were the once who taught her to do this if I remember it right from one of her interviews.

She is perfect and wouldn’t change a thing. This is my favorite version of Les Mis. It’s from the anniversary show with Ramin Karimloo, Alfie boe, Hadley Fraser, And Norm Lewis.

Singing in broadway is different from just singing technically, it is harder cause you need to be technical and operatic at the same time and you need to act while singing and sing your song with full emotions, you are the embodiment of the song you are one with it rather than just hitting the notes and you do this world class singing in fromt of VIP and Legends of the world for 3 times a day or more, 7 times a week. She has been in Miss Saigon, Les Miserables and other Broadway shows all days of her life for decades continuously in both London and New York. Voice of Disney Princesses and Tony Award winner. Who can judge her when she is more experienced than anyone it is like Godfather of cooking Marco Pierre White being scored and judged by Michelin people when he has the most experience than everyone lol.

I always assumed her pushing these notes was just part of her acting out the character. Certainly sounds much more heartfelt than just belting it or using an operatic head voice. Certainly worked to create a powerful performance in my view.

I like the way Lea sing, its incomparable..and about the tongue pulling i think shes juz doin it decently to express the proper emotion of the song, shes not just simply singing the song she is passionately telling a story thru a song...and if you make a deep research of Lea you will know that she do that trick to protect her voice..she is amazing!

My Best friend and I had the honor of seeing her play Fantine in the 2006 revival. My friend and I were absolutely in awe every second on stage.

I got to see Lea Salonga in concert one time, and she is flipping amazing. She can do all styles from opera to pop, and even vocal impressions of celebrity singers.

shes technically singing it, as a pro broadway diva she must knew what shes doing. You just cant see and appreciate the technique Lea's using so she will hit those notes perfectly and it sounds really theatrical.

Clearest diction of any singer; windex for the ears; music for the soul. I call her the dominos pizza of singers; she just delivers and delivers...

I'm so glad you're doing this one. I love her version of "On My Own", but I feel like this one is too often overlooked. It absolutely gives me chills. Excited to hear your thoughts!

When she sings she is telling the story… her diction and enunciation are perfect

She isnt only singing. She is acting at the same time. So the technicality is not much of the focus but the message she was trying to convey.

She was pulling her tongue back because she has to. She's on broadway. Doing that almost every day. It takes its toll to her voice.

That's very different from standing in front of camera and teach. That's live, powerful and emotional singing right there.
