In this segment of a special Q&A on Star Wars: The Clone Wars - The Lost Missions, supervising director Dave Filoni discusses the influence The Clone Wars has had on the creation of Star Wars Rebels.

One fan asks Dave Filoni, "Are you going to be able to draw from what you've developed in The Clone Wars and pull some of those elements into the new series?"

"We couldn't do Rebels without having done Clone Wars," Filoni says. "It'd be impossible." Though many fans think Rebels has a similar look as The Clone Wars, Filoni believes the new series has a distinct style that has made him very proud of what his team has accomplished.

Filoni also discusses the increase in acclaim for The Clone Wars after its cancellation. This praise has kept the team motivated to build on The Clone Wars legacy while transitioning into Rebels.

Love Rebels and CW. I only wish we could have both, or at least more of an ending to TCW.

dave filoni is one of my favorite animated director/producer as he gets star wars he knows what makes it work for older fans and thats why i feel both shows rebles and tcw arent just kid shows their actually got dark moments and mature themes

There he said it himself. This new show is great because the team's had the chance to learn from everything since clone wars and build stories off of a core team we can learn to care about. So I love this new show and continue to have high hopes for it.

I have only seen the rebels show on the marathon they recently did and tbh rebels has a few good episodes but clone wars is and always will be a fantastic show, i seriously can't believe it's cancelled :(

I do not hate Rebels, but TCW was by far the better series. It was more detailed, hab better storys (Mostly in the last 3 Seasons) and better character development. I mean, Hardcase had a better personality than a few of Rebels main characters.
But the thing that make my really hating Disney for canceling it is that they did just not made a end for the show, didn't tie up at least a few of all the lose ends and releasing information about all the awesome a stuff we never gonna see !!! Why did they do this ? I want to know so hard how Echo survived aand what Ashoka is doing together with Bo-Katan. And we never gonna see it !!!
Also, did you recognized that, when a stormtrooper is shot in Rebels, he don't have any wounds ? That their armor have no scratch ? That is really the ultimate proof that Disney forced them to show at little Violence as possible, to make Rebels for three year olds.

It would be a miracle if they could finish off the clone wars on netflix, considering that they already have season 6 there.

For those complaining about The Clone Wars not having an ending: I'm pretty sure Revenge of the Sith is the ending. Besides, the final episode of the Lost Missions, I felt, was a very satisfactory ending to the series now that we're getting the other untold stories in other media.

You guys need to somehow incorperate Gregor in somehow, I mean that armor can take quite a hit, he should have lived, but his comlink got severed, and on that planet, no one is coming to tell him about order 66 so, well, you know where I am going p.s. You can also do this for echo since you said he lived :D

why do people want clone wars back so bad? we had SEVEN seasons to cover THREE years, more would be excessive and unbelievable

I loved the Clone Wars, but damn, it's finished!  That ending with Yoda is the best possible ending we could have gotten for the show.  It's time to move on people, sheesh.  Rebels is a great show and is a worthy successor to The Clone Wars

I know its a lot to ask but i really want them to finish Clone Wars through Rebels. They could bring in characters that we didnt get closure on and provide that to us or even have perhaps characters who lived through the clone wars tell tales of those events perhaps. I know it would be a lot to ask and  I doubt it will ever be but a fan can dream, a fan can dream....

It was daves choice not to go on with CW. It was because he did not want to go on without Lucas, which says something about his involvement in the show.

To all you people bitchin' about Rebels and demanding Clone Wars back, I remember when you all were bitchin about this "damn kids show on Cartoon Network". Hell, I even recognize some names of whiners. I say give it three seasons: that was about the point people started changing their tunes. TLDR: SHUT UP AND WATCH!

Personally I grew up on CW and at first I wasn't happy that Disney ended it but after seeing the new episodes I'm really enjoying the stormie deaths plus possibility of getting lego imperial vehicles. So I'm sad but happy to see what rebels will bring. Hopefully they will leave goto
