This is how you make your own perfect bread lame to score your bread for almost free. If you want to spend even less, just use the razor blade directly. I like to do that when cutting some patterns into the dough.

I’ve always used a razor blade by itself. Never saw an advantage with the lame. But.. I have chopsticks around so I’ll try this!

This is just a superb and brilliant idea. who would have thought! Thank you. Love your videos btw. Been trying to get my starter for months. Somehow it remained weak and lazy despite living in the tropics. I left it in my fridge to starve for 3 weeks while I was away. Came back and was deciding to either give up or start all over . At the end, I fed her and she became an exploding mess within hours! So amazed. Now she’s going to be my workhorse for the next 250 million years.

Brilliant, and more affordable! I love the creativity. I have plenty of chopsticks... need to grab a packet of that kind of razor blades.

Schnelle Frage offtopic... Erstmal danke für die tollen Videos, meine Brote werden jetzt die Knaller. Jetzt möchte ich natürlich noch etwas fine tunen. Wie bekomme ich eine schöne glänzende Kruste hin???
(Ich backe im gusseisernen Topf und sprühe, bevor ich das Brot in den Ofen gebe, nochmal mit Wasser in den Topf.)

Great idea. How long should the razor blade last...i.e. roughly how many loaves of dough would it be used for (just using the one long cut) before having to be replaced?

Gluten Tag! Thank you for the video. I've heard that in Germany adding stale bread to a new sourdough is very common. Perhaps one of your next videos could cover that? I've got a little bit of stale bread and I'd love to be able to give it a second life rather than just waste it. Thank you so much!

Any such suggestion to prevent the bottom of my bread from becoming a dark charcoal? I am getting super nice texture inside, and top, but bottom gets almost burnt.

Already had a scalpel handle...bought a pack of skin graft blades....scary af but excellent in use, 3d printed a sheath. I hated a expensive plastic one by certain company.

Funny to be suggesting a super cheap solution and then baking in a $200+ Dutch oven. But I did use this method for a lame before buying a wire monkey UFO
