I just think that faux flowers are less expensive and they still look beautiful in the pictures.

I chose a venue that has a wide selection of faux floral centerpieces, bouquets, and garlands that you can use for free. They're pretty, cost nothing extra, remove the stress of having to find a florist, and because they've been reused many times rather than being tossed at the end of the night they're much more sustainable.

My wedding coming up is all faux florals. So far my table garland look amazing. I hate that flowers or plants would have to die for my event to look nice.
I'm going to put them up for sale after the wedding.

I hate real flowers. Combination of reasons including allergies, the mess they make, having cats who will eat them and get sick, and i don’t have a sense of smell so to me they’re just something that you spend money on for it to sit on your counter for a few days then start making a mess and die. I also hate bugs and know they will be attracted to flowers. We went with faux flowers from Etsy for my wedding. They were silk touch calla lilys and looked so real that even the photographer didn’t believe me that they were fake at first. I also liked the convenience of being able to order them well in advance and not worry about them falling apart throughout the day or getting all messed up if my bouquet was knocked against something.

In the African community (in African countries AND diaspora, I live in the UK), using faux flowers is more common than using real florals. Most people use a decorator who has a collection of thousands of faux flowers that they reuse in different arrangements for multiple weddings. They are NOT one and done. Not sure why you’ve experienced such bad quality faux florals, but the ones from weddings I’ve seen and been to are pretty amazing. Decorators usually provide rentals as well. Until I discovered your channel and other white American/British wedding YouTubers I didn’t know that people hire out different vendors for rentals, florals, venue styling and production. This is usually all done by the same team. Production is outsourced 50% of the time, but the same vendor is used for the aesthetics of an event. African weddings are definitely more extravagant than white American weddings, but they require less vendors and are cheaper. (Just to reiterate, when I say “African” I mean culture/ethnicity wise, so in the continents of Africa, America, Europe etc. I would recommend googling “Ghanaian wedding” or “Nigerian wedding”)

Thanks for discussing the sustainability aspect. We used faux and dried florals (sola wood) for most of our items. I ordered my bouquet from an Etsy seller who makes book page flowers. I use it as a centerpiece on our dining table now. We didn't use many flowers because the table centerpieces were mostly old books and thrifted doilies. My mom did buy a few plastic faux florals from craft stores, which I used to decorate the lanterns that my bridesmaids carried. I was originally planning to use sola flowers to make hoop bouquets, but quickly discovered that I did not have the skill to do that haha. My mother in law did bring in some bud vases with evergreen pieces from the historic estate where I work to use as fresh accents.

For the first time I couldn’t agree with you. At this time weddings are stupidity expensive, I’ve done all faux flowers for my wedding and people are finding it hard to believe that they are not real. You have some faux flowers that are so hideous. After my wedding, I will be hiring them out as my colour theme is extremely popular this season.

I have to admit for the wedding arch I did use faux greenery with fresh flowers. At a distance they work just fine

I have to use faux florals because I have allergies and cannot be around massive amounts of real flowers.

You know…I had two brides astounded when I told them table center pieces used to be “raffled” off or given out to a guest at the end of the event. They thought that was the weirdest thing. Lol

I had to pick faux florals, because I'm **highly** allergic to pollen. I don't have a choice. And to be fair, mine look absolutely awesome ❤

ETA: I'm also just not a fan of flowers, so the bouquets are mostly faux ferns (which look incredibly real), with just some faux lavenders of varying depth of color and the seed pods of flowers from our yard (i didnt plant them, the original owners did, but they're extremely visually interesting pieces like different varieties of milkweed, hibiscus, snapdragon, etc.

Growing as many plants as I can. Potted plants for dance floor decor and cut fresh flowers for tables

Faux florals used to be of higher quality when I got married back in ‘88. And, you could readily find them in independent crafting stores. I’m making my daughter’s centerpieces with her blessing using faux florals. The bouqs, and all the rest (signs, gazebo, wine barrels) will all have real flowers.

lol I am allergic to flowers so I had to use sola wood and they were absolutely beautiful

Agree —a wedding is a time to splurge for fresh flowers. For my kids I bought in bulk and arranged everything myself to save on cost. It is still expensive but even if you just arranged fewer or just did the centerpieces it’s worth it. Some weddings mostly greenery like eucalyptus and it’s ver lovely with white flowers for the wedding party.
I’ve never seen faux flowers in a wedding that looked good. One bride had her flower order canceled and just ordered from a local grocery store some small pink jars of nosegays and it was lovely. Nothing smells as good as fresh flowers.

I love real flowers, but the wedding is costing so much money already and flowers are just not a priority. I'm not spending $2-5k on flowers. That's absolutely insane.

Our ceremony is in a garden and for the reception we’re doing bulb vases with small but vivid fresh flowers!

We wanted lots of flowers and realized garden weddings give you that!

I found an awesome cost saving resource in my local community, Dayton Ohio. We have a florist, The Flowerman, who orders the flowers and then you and a group of friends/family do the designs DIY with the florists guidance so it's kind of a DIY+. I haven't gone through the DIY part yet but I'm really excited for it!
