Another 50% decline in prices would fix the sales problem

I work for a small Chevy dealer in Michigan. I haven't seen sales this slow since 2009. It's brutal right now. Hopefully things get better.

Mazda produces a good car at a relatively reasonable price.

Mazda and Subaru thrived only because Toyotas “affordable”options are getting expensive and unavailable. Toyota enjoys their strategy in the US by maintaining high pieces and low availability. While in china, its sales got slammed because of the competition.

“Even a broken clock is twice once a day” never heard it quite put that way but ok, it works for me.

Meanwhile there is like 6 months waiting list for Corolla in Ontario. Bring back Tercel/ Echo/ Yaris sized affordable car and I'll buy one.

I ended up buying a 2023 Mazda Cx-30 back in November just because the Toyota Corolla Cross just wasn’t available and the Rav4 was too expensive. Subaru Crosstrek would’ve been my other option.

Toyotas problem is not putting a v8 in the tundra. Personally, I know a number of people that bought something else just because of that.

I think people have the overwhelming sense that car prices and interest rates are likely to come down going into 2025. Like, a lot. Car makers are going to give up their pricing power kicking and screaming, and in fact some may have some pretty bad quarters coming up.

"They have the land cruiser..."

Over-priced and ADMs galore.

"The hot new Tacoma..."

Blowing transmissions at under 1, 000 miles.

And they've had to halt sales of the Grand Highlander altogether because of an airbag flaw.

Happy for Mazda, probably the most underappreciated car brand in the NA market.

Aubrey, I do not feel sorry for any of them.

Americans need to get weened-off of monthly payments for their cars. It is insanity to keep buying these tanks they can’t afford. The decline in car sales has nothing to do with the state of the economy.

Notes that Subarus sell best in areas that get snow, which does not describe Texas.

Car prices will go down significantly only when car manufacturers bring small inexpensive cars back into their new car lineups. Simply cutting prices slightly on already sky high priced cars will not be enough to lure customers back into the showrooms; recession or not.

Portland OR Subaru dealers remain severely short on various models and are quick to de-velue trade-ins for the slightest damage (personal experience). It's as if the Pandemic's alive and well here, unfortunately.

Shouldn't have quit making their entry level vehicles and budget commuters. Shouldn't have jacked up truck prices so much and so fast, while having quality problems. Those go for both Ford and Toyota, equally.

Is Toyota going to resurrect Scion? Surely they can't have thought that the financial bubble would last forever. Or did they?
