In this video, I'm going to share with you some quick updates on my affordable filament recycling project... You'll see a few steps forward, a few steps back, and, you'll learn a few valuable lessons that I, unfortunately, have had to learn the hard way...

This video is going to be a little different than the others in the series... I've run up against some major setbacks, as you're about to see.

But, my hope is that it will not only be entertaining... but also, that it will help any of you who are looking to DIY recycle 3d prints, by alerting you as to which issues you need to look out for.

It was a frustrating couple of weeks, full of, quite honestly, REALLY stupid mistakes... but if this helps any of you 3D printing enthusiasts build your own DIY recycling rigs with fewer headaches, I guess that's something... right?

Anyways... sit back, relax, and prepare to learn how NOT to build a DIY filament recycling setup.

🎥 IN THIS VIDEO: 🎥
00:00 Introduction
01:10 Rebuilding The Shredder
02:08 Putting It All Together
04:08 The Most Triumphant Moment... Followed By The Worst

Thanks for watching guys. I know, I'm an idiot. Be gentle in the comments.

It's very respectable that you leave nothing out of your documentation in this journey, showing us both the good and the bad that you're doing, instead of hiding all the mistakes you're making, and only showing us "good" results.

It's really great showcasing all the mistakes in your journey so that others can avoid them. Awesome job!

Not the first time that someone share some mistakes, but it's definitely the first time that i see someone totally screwing up the project as i always do 🤣.
Loved this video and subscribed!

"Success is a poor teacher." A saying I've had many opportunities to appreciate :D Thanks for sharing your experiences! There is so much more to learn this way.

Something you might try: take the inconsistant filament you got from running the 8mm shreds through the extruder, pelletize it, and run the pellets through the extruder. I'd be curious to know what the results of that are. Good luck!

Oh wow!! I thought the first oopsie was there was more to come!!! Glad you're ok....just remember we learn by our mistakes - we all make them (are they really mistakes if we didn't know about the risks??)
Anyway, glad you and the family are staying safe with all the war stuff....please stay safe and thank you for the content 😊

Test motor movement and direction is called a bump test in the manufacturing industry and electricians in a factory always work in pairs or teams.

You just demonstrated why.

Most VFDs are defaulted to coast stop, but many also have a breaking function as well.
