To this day, i never understood why they edit the riceball and called them Jelly Donuts.

Calling Japanese Riceballs..."Donuts" has to be The Dumbest Censorship 4Kids has ever done.

Ah yes, the times when 4Kids was disrespectful towards Japanese cuisine.

I think James with Inflatable Breasts was the most censored moment in the Pokemon anime.

As the slap scene from episode 1 you could have added episode 3 as an extra too since she literally slaps him again but with caterpie.

The Ghost at Maidens' Peak was one of my favorite early English dub episodes purely for the fact that Brock and James are voiced by the same actor.

Nah man, Japanese or not I know Brock is the horniest person in the Pokémon world to exist 😂😂

Anime censorship is really stupid. Some of this stuff have been in regular cartoons for years. This might be out there, but I’m calling it discrimination.

The episode electric soldier Porygon was banned because of a scene which caused mass seizures resulting in the episodes ban which also resulted in episodes getting edited to avoid causing more seizures

op 10 Most Censored Pokémon Moments
#10: Safe Shurikens. “Aiming for the Top Floor!” ...
#9: Jessie's Midriff. ...
#8: Putting Out Matches. ...
#7: Meowth's Out-Of-Body Experience. ...
#6: Team Rocket's Unfortunate Salute. ...
#5: A Wildly Inappropriate Question. ...
#4: Lenora's Outfit. ...
#3: Brock's Jelly Donuts.

#2: Miltank's Udders
"Got Miltank?”

After Cyndaquil and Meowth are injured and separated from their trainers, they are brought to a Miltank to heal. The cow-like Pokémon uses a combination of glowy hands and its naturally produced milk to heal others. However, American censors took issue with its udders. In the original Japanese version, Meowth and Cyndaquil are clearly shown drinking the milk directly from Miltank, which was completely cut from the English dub. If you look very, very, closely you can still see the moment where Cyndaquil detaches from an udder, but that’s about as close westerns audiences got. People have been to farms, you know!

#1: Inflatable Accessories
“Beauty and The Beach”

There are plenty of examples of James assuming disguises throughout the anime. But the outfit he wore in this highly controversial episode sent the censors into overdrive. To infiltrate a beauty contest, James puts on a bikini, attaches inflatable breasts to himself and pumps them up to astounding size, where he then proceeds to make fun of Misty for being on the left side. The outrage caused by this led to the episode being banned for years! Even after being heavily edited, it was barely shown on western television and isn’t available on several streaming services. James' controversial accessories will ensure that this episode will live forever in infamy.

Honestly, Jinks looks a bit better in purple anyway. Like, I love the design trope of characters with a face hidden in shadow so much that we mostly see darkness (like Vivi from ff9), but I think for Jinks it just makes more sense to give her more coloration than just all black.

Honestly, The censored moments are one of the many things that played a part in making Pokemon the iconic series that it is.

Because as we all know there's not a single cartoon in history that hasn't had it's share of innuendoes, dirty jokes, racial stereotypes, And dark moments.

Why was Torchic made to not set them on fire? Pikachu zapped the living hell out of Ash for how long in the beginining and they didn't change that? That is weird.

Just remember, it's actually O.L.M. that made the art changes, because video-chopping wasn't a thing back then. Plus, it's possible that Japan gave some differences between the TV airings and DVD releases, with the localized/foreignized option released in the dub.

The censorship in the US is literally BORING and ANNOYING.
All uncut anime materials are obviously meant for millions of adolescents, adults and middle aged people alike.
