To me, the most incredible thing about the whole affair is that criminal human traffickers can pit the governments of France, the UK and Ireland against each other. It only shows how foolish our democracies work. Or rather NOT working.

The EU sanctioned illegal migrants to enter, and as Ireland is a member state, what do they expect? There needs to be a law passed that anyone arriving to The UK by small boat or the back of a lorry, is arrested and immediately deported/expelled, no ifs or buts and receiving a lifetime ban from re-entering. This would not only stop traffickers, it would stop their movements to Ireland.

Why shouldn't Ireland send them back that's exactly what the UK should do instead of picking them up in the Channel. It would be a heck of a lot cheaper than Rwanda and we wouldn't be obliged to take Rwandan refugees in return.
