Hundreds of hotels around the UK are being used to house people seeking asylum while the authorities try to clear the growing backlog of cases.

While some are welcoming, it’s also drawn some angry protests.

We went to the Leicestershire village of Kegworth, where friends and families are divided over the arrival of dozens of new neighbours.

my grandmother drove an ambulance in london during the blitz in WW2 but when she needed assisted accommodation at age 92, she had to wait because migrants were given priority. she lived and worked and paid tax in britain her whole life yet took second place to people who had never paid in a penny nor served the country in war. how can that be fair?

Why are they always adult males of military age. Never women and children.

When a young man flees from a war torn country and leaves his family behind is questionable 🤨

So he left his family instead of staying and protecting them, what a man

He left his home his family and passed through numerous safe countries to come here what a guy!

The million dollar question is "why risk your life to come to the UK when you've passed through several safe countries just to get to the UK??"" Isn't it better to seek asylum in a country where you share the same cultural and religious values and moreso the same language???

Ask yourself why so many single men would leave their families undefended?

It amazes me there are still people out there who believe these illegal migrants are escaping the horrors of war. These people have travelled through many safe countries and ended up in France, where there is no war and no persecution. BUT France won't give them hotel accommodation, 3 meals a day, pocket money etc etc etc.

All my friends are from other countries 🙂 and even they say this is ridiculous. Getting on a boat and entering the country illegally isn't asylum seekers.

Bournemouth has become unrecognisable, 1000s of fighting aged men now prowl the streets. Stabbings, rapes and assaults are a monthly occurrence. But if you speak out you are deemed a racist. It’s sickening and is only going to get worse

Power to the people. Do not be afraid to stand your ground. The rest of Europe is with you and understand your pain.

Stop calling them "asylum seekers".

It doesn't sound like it's a village divided. The residents are unhappy with the situation and outsiders come crawling in to confront them.

Is anyone ever going to tell us why it’s only men? Two hotels in Wakefield taken over now, never seen anyone who’s not an 18-35 year old male. The only 4* hotel and wedding venue in the area now gone.

Fleeing from 'war torn countries' don't make me laugh.
