My prediction would be that even if Trump removes the tariffs China will still continue the tariffs if it sees through the bluff and the soft point in Trump. Chinese government has been preparing for the impact, now that the real thing is here and the public opinion is trending to support the governemnt instead of accusing it. When the Chinese governemnt has the public support in hand, it will inflict a real pain in Trump supporters and make them learn.

Idea: Increase tariffs on China exports to US until trade balance equal, every month raise tariffs 10 to 25% until equal, 6 to 12 months would be fine, no need to negotiate, -no hard feelings-just business
China can either open markets or decrease exports. Also we could encourage countries like Vietnam, Malaysia and other countries that aren't milatarizing China sea to buy our machine tools to make up for any lost products

one more idea. Any US company that reveals trade secrets to China should lose all patent protection for that patent. This would discourage revealing patent secrets and level playing field

I think this could be a culture conflict. The negotiation strategy Trump used is totally unacceptable in Chinese culture. What Trump did has been read as humiliating. It's already not about business, it is about dignity. I don't think Trump really realized that.
