Life After Gastric Bypass Surgery

Показать описание
Gastric bypass surgery is a type of bariatric or weight loss surgery in which the stomach is divided into a small upper pouch and large lower pouch. The total recovery time is 4 to 6 weeks.

For 1st week, you will have liquids but no solid food as your stomach and intestines begin to heal.

There must be someone at home with you for the first few days after surgery.

Frequent short walks are recommended for the first week.

Patients should eat small, regular meals, as the reduced stomach created by bariatric surgery can only handle a small amount of food at a time.

Most patients return to work after 2 weeks, depending upon procedure.

Patient will get back to normal activities in 3 to 5 weeks.

Avoid lifting anything heavier than 20 to 30 pounds, or doing push or pull motions such as vacuuming, during the first 6 weeks after surgery.

Wait up to three weeks before your body is recovered enough to engage in intercourse.

For the first two weeks after surgery, you will need to restrict yourself to an intake of about 400 calories.
