I’m laying on my cotton-velvet soriana sofa dupe right now 😂 I think it being part cotton helps it not get too crushed fortunately

Nothing will happen to quality velvet and it’s one of the most pet (especially cat)friendly fabrics ever.

I have a small, 9'x14' kitchen. When I gutted to the walls, floor and ceiling, I installed cabinets with no hardware at all, an excellent decision. When I had kids and a dog, I had mauve Italian leather living room furniture (in Florida). Leather doesn't sweat or freeze, fake leather does. The only hard rule was, no sharp things in their pockets (keys, pencils, etc.) and no sharp anything in their hands (scissors, exactos, etc.). Easy enough, because the living room was not a play zone. When it got dirty, I put a good movie on and we cleaned the leather as a family. It's kind of a soothing task.
My nightmare is my highly detailed bleached oak wood headboard and footboard. I'm talking toothbrush and q-tips details. A weekend long, complicated annual chore

These remarks below suggest everyone has a cat? I wonder what that percentage is? In any case, you must choose a fabric for furniture that suits your lifestyle and taste. I personally love velvet, but would not choose it for many other reasons. Feel free to use it on accents, such as pillows for your sofa, or a bedspread for your bed. That said, your other advice seems to fit what we don’t think of.

I learned about knobs handles and pulls when I did my kitchen renovation. I hated the knobs on lower cabinets especially the misplaced island bc I was always catching my pants pockets on them. The knobs were polished solid brass so good quality. But poor design choice. I replaced them with closed ends pulls and put knobs only on upper cabinets! Small change big impact! I kept all those knobs and use them in other areas of the house bc I went with antique brass hardware for the kitchen. No more ripped pockets!🤗I never use velvet but heard it’s a good cat repellent fabric. I dont like solids that’s probably why I never use it. I like patterned fabric and rugs ; hides stains better and you can use a natural fabric instead of chemical treated ones.
