Going over the differences between a 6R80 and 4R70W transmission and the potential issues and add features if the conversion is successful. As with my 4R70W in my Ford Falcon I have the MS3x ECU driving the transmission, I'd like to drive the 6R80 in the same manner.

The controller is still really only available from Quick Shift 6 and the OEM PCM's, other circuitry is likely not very driveable. But I learned recently of how to use a 2013 or 2014 F150 PCM to run both the 6R80, and a SBF with crank and cam sensors.

The adapter is something I never liked last year when I saw the spacers they used for the torque convertor. I may be working on my 98 SUV project in late Summer, a 302 and the 6R80. I plan to use no spacer at all. The starter is rotated up on all modular engines, versus where it is on older Ford V8's. If you realize that, and simply cut off the one block bolt hole nearest to the starter, then the modular V8 transmissions(all of them), bolt to any SBF. If you can do without one bell housing bolt, then you can use all of the OEM 6R parts, the starter, separator plate, and the TC. I'll give that a shot later this year after I retire and get my 347 swap done in my 92 LSC.

Ford made a 4R70W with a small block bolt pattern for 5.8 truck motor. I think they were in trucks about 1995.

The adapter is already available, and Baumann has a standalone transmission controller. You will definitely have to grind out the bell housing around the starter

Have you figured out if the MS3x will be able to control the 6r80?
