I’d buy one of these in a heartbeat if they were sold here. No screens, no stupid electronics. Just basic, rugged dependability. I’d keep it forever.

Toyota were very clever in keeping these around for so long. Parts commonality means that you can travel anywhere and be able to source your essentials. It’s quite thought provoking to consider how many lives have been saved thanks to a 70 series. Thank you, Toyota. I hope to see these for many years yet.

I’m a miner in Canada and we use these underground as personnel carriers and service vehicles.

"At the end of the day, its not a car, its a tool. A white Toyota, paint code 058 might represent salvation, medicine, education, hope, aid, food, relief. Its a sign, above all, that things would get better."
A sentence which brought tears to my eyes.

Landcruiser is by far the most durable car I have ever had. You only need to buy one in your life time for 2 reasons.
1. The one u have probably won't break if you service it.
2. Even if you buy a new one, it's exactly like the one you used to have.

One of the most unobtainable cars in the Australian market right now, and there’s definitely a good reason behind it. 👍🏻

The fact that I can get parts for a land cruiser that is 30+ years old NEW from Toyota is awesome.

Land Cruiser 70 series is one of the greatest creations in the world of vehicles.
Reliability, durability, simplicity, easy to maintain and timeless design, which are not found in today's vehicles are more important than electronic devices and features. People who know the value of LC 70 series know that they can go anywhere without any problem.

I worked for an NGO in Africa and rode in these pretty frequently in the bush. They are absolute tanks. Fond memories going 40 mph through narrow jungle roads, tearing through the mud, leaves and branches slapping the windshield. Absolute travesty they aren't made and sold in the US.

This really goes to show there need to be more standards in the automotive world, same as in the computing world. Modularity lowers cost and increases repairability. Especially in the modern world where car makers seem unable to refrain from adding a bunch of poorly supported electronic junk that doesn't need to be there.

Am a Tanzanian here and I am happy to hear about this anti-poaching program with such beautiful and capable machines

Have used this model of LC for two years in Saudi Arabia. Must say it's a bit rough to drive in the beginning but once you are used to it you realise how practical and bullet proof these machines are. And they look good as well.

Who else thinks there will never be a more capable and mechanically bullet proof series Land Cruiser

Had a Landcruiser V8 Diesel issued to me in Oman when I was a construction Manager in the oilfield, it was PDO specification, roll cage, extended fuel tank, extra spare wheel etc, I regularly travelled through the desert from muscat into the empty quarter, best vehicle I have ever driven in the desert, I pulled a truck out of soft with it and it never felt it, low range diff lock on etc

Land Crusier the most dependable 4x4 made. Parts aren’t cheap but you rarely need them. I have owned Toyota’s since the early 80’s, the 4x4 trucks are the best quality 4x4 made, They are small and rougher ridding than bigger trucks but a lot better quality and cheaper to maintain.

Sucks they don’t sell these in the US, I would’ve bought 7 of them already. One for each day of the week.

This is heaven. I just love practicality.

We have so many in Australia, we add aftermarket upgrades and use them for extreme 4x4 or camping and touring plus getting the groceries.
