That small exchange between him and IG about how no living thing has seen him without his helmet is so good. Implies he sees the droid as a living thing after growing from his original prejudice, and IG’s comment about him not being a living thing and both silently allowing the helmet to be removed just makes it such a bitter sweet moment. Gets me every time.

And he actually lets off a single coughing chuckle at that. He actually laughed.

When i first saw this scene, I had *no* idea who was under that mask. I didn’t know who he was cast as, I didn’t know who Pedro Pascal even was, let alone what his face looked like.

This reveal was a million times more powerful simply because i had absolutely ZERO idea who the man under the helmet was.

A face reveal done right. Unlike the Halo TV Series. We got to be with the character for so long and grown attached to them and finally the pay off that makes sense within the context of the world. Perfect.

IG-11 has a good point he is not a living thing

The fact that droids mirror the Mandalorian so well because he is supposed to be like a machine, stripped of identity and meant to follow orders, and then goes against orders to save the kid proves that he really is a living being with a heart and soul and not just a programmed weapon, really shows us his progression as a character

You can hear his voice crack when realizes after he said “no living thing” he knew what was coming

Stroke of genius. Making his face reveal be to a droid (a nonliving being) rather than a living person. Revealing his face to the audience while simultaneously showing that he retains his loyalty to the mandalorian code and refuses to reveal his face to any living creature.
