I literally just got back two days ago as an Australian tourist. Our own government tells us it's a no-go zone as there is a high risk of kidnappings and terrorist attacks, and it's impossible to get travel insurance. There are a lot of checkpoints and you need a letter of approval to go to certain tourist sites but this is for tourist safety, and so the Taliban know where you are. The Taliban invited me for tea and food numerous times once they found out I was a guest, and they are the most peaceful and humble people I've met considering they have been invaded and at war for so many years. There were only 7, 000 tourists in the last year but I felt super safe and hope more people can experience this amazing country full of history.

38:34 . Great point. Most religiously oriented Muslims in the Muslim world ARE conservative and do not agree with western lifestyles. I am a Muslim Pushtun woman who has lived in the US for 53 years; I’m fully covered except for my face, Ive never been to a movie theater in all these years, have no desire to socialize or participate in decadent western parties and events where wine and drinking occurs. I held a teaching position in a public school for 17 years and am proud to be conservative, abiding by Islamic rulings in my domestic and social life. The LOUD CRITICS among Muslims are the very ones who have turned their backs to Islam and retain the colonized thinking of the western worldview.

I always look for articles and videos on Afghanistan to know how the country is doing after the long war and occupation, and the Muslim countries have not recognized the new government. It is heart breaking. Thank you both for presenting the truth and the reality on the ground. Thank you so much.

Thank you for presenting such a wonderful conversation! It really reminds me of the adage “walk in someone else’s shoes” Afghanistan was under so much distress for SO long, how can anyone look at that culture and not feel for their struggle to grow and heal. Healing looks different and although they may not have policies/ structures that we agree with, but hopefully this is their method to learn how to heal and strengthen their people/ culture. I also very much appreciate your understanding of Islam and sharing how although Afghanistan practices Islam, it does not necessarily reflect typical Muslim values. Inshaallah, Afghanistan and it peoples get the time to heal and grow in peace. Great vid!
