I bought a OptiPlex with 16gb ram and a i7 6700 for $50 then found a gtx 1050 for $20 and boom a decent gaming pc then about 1 month later I found a gtx 1060 6gb for $20 upgraded and now I'm happy with a $80 build that would have costed well over 250 from eBay

It's awesome that Oz showcases the RTX 3050 with respectful and realistic goals. Class act. 🏆👍

Last year I refurb'd this same model Dell. Note they DO take NVMe m.2's (it's just below the CPU there). I sorta wish the 3050 6GB was available at the time, as I ended up buying a used RTX A2000 for a bit more money, and it's stuck with the Quadro drivers which aren't quite as gamer-friendly.

U can get really good deals in USA, in Spain is harder.

This card would've made a lot more sense if it priced a lot cheaper. Make it as a GTX 1650/1660 replacement and sell it for $149. Card will be discounted to $99 at some time and it will make more sense for prebuilt PC owners.

I have a feeling that the cpu would be cooler if the fan was not backwards

I've seen 9th gen dell mini towers for $150 and less. Also, couldn't you run a 1080 ti / 1080 / 1070 for better gaming performance albeit w/o RT? Realistically on such a budget 1044p/1080p non RT is where you fall to.

I feel like this "new" 3050 is created to catch clueless buyers. In your build, it makes sense though. Great video again! Greetz from Germany!

Getting an intel 8th gen w 16gb of ram prebuilt for 100 bucks is a pretty crazy deal in itself.

I did similar to this 4 years ago. 2x 20$ dell office machines to which I plugged in 2x 1060gt's for my kids. So far it has provide years of Roblox entertainment. This type of thing in my opinion is the sweet spot of budget gaming.

Interesting... you mentioned the 4th Gen Optiplex, and this looks to use the same power supply. That means the XE2 365 watt power supply might work in this system and it has a 6-pin PCIe power connection. What an interesting little system for a entry level build, with a decent CPU, and some upgrade path and should destroy the 4790. The is pretty awesome! However, I don't agree about the i7 9700 as it can still hold it's own against the R5 5600. Granted, that 5600 can be upgraded to an X 3D part and leave it in the dust.

I wonder if a i9 9900k would fit into that slot and motherboard, that would be enough for a rtx 4070 and keep this alive for at least 5 more years

I know that gpu gets a lot of shit but I still think it’s a great card for what it is… just not for the price. If it launched at $140-$150 I think people would feel a little different about. Great video as always.

I 100% agree with you on the 3050, it has a place. I feel until the Intel A series start turning up on the surplus market, the 3050 is going to be the best option for more modern office computers to game with. Over the last few years there have been so few low profile cards on the market that it has been tough. 1650s still sell for well over $100 in my area, especially low profile versions. I have bought some great Optiplex type systems recently for very little, a 9th Gen i5, with NVME and 8GB of ram was $80, I got a Lenovo Office minitower for $100 with a 10th Gen i7, 512GB NVME and 16GB of memory. Throwing a 3050 would give you a very powerful gaming PC for less than $300.a used A380 would put it at as little as $180.
