What job do you want to be in when you retire?

When you are thinking about making a transition, begin with the end in mind. Think about where you want to be when you retire, and then think about the steps you will have to take to end up there.

Once you have that road map in place, start making moves to put the plan into practice.

It is important to remember this:

Sometimes you don't get the job even if you do everything right.

Control what you can control, and let the rest take care of itself.

Recently, Lute was able to sit down with William D. Parker and discuss his thoughts on transitioning into different leadership roles. In this clip from that interview, Lute gets vulnerable and shares a story about a transition he wanted to make that did not work out for him.

Lute talks about how to deal with being rejected after "crushing" a job interview, and he shows what can happen if rejection is approached with the right attitude.

Watch this short video to hear Lute talk about his experiences as he transitioned into his first assistant principal job.

I know you all made this video a year ago, but this was right on time for me. Thank you! I’m currently beginning my journey into educational leadership, ultimately leaving the classroom. I had a similar experience of going on an amazing interview but was not offered the position. In the moment it stung, but you have reminded me it’s about God’s timing and being the right fit for a school at the right time. I’m excited about what is to come in my leadership journey! ❤
