Greetings Principal Kafele! I've watched "Thoughts to Consider for the Assistant Principal Part(s) 1 & 2, " as well as your other videos on similar topics, and...(drum roll)...I GOT THE JOB!! I will be the new Assistant Principal at a STEM High School! This is my FIRST AP job! Towards the end of my interview I asked the panel what were some ideal qualities they look for in an AP, and one of them mentioned the fact that I expressed that "my role is not to be the Principal but the assistant to the Principal" as something that stood out to them. This was the FIRST piece of advice you gave in your first video and I made sure to make it clear to them as soon as the opportunity presented itself in my interview. THANK YOU, PRINCIPAL KAFELE! Hello Principal Kafele, it is August 28, 2023. I came across your video while searching vice-principal interviews. I watched the entire video (and rewind a good number of times because the information is exponentially beneficial). I am currently studying educational leadership, and my goal is to be a vice-principal. Your video is extremely INSPIRING and POWERFUL! This is by far the most effective, genuine, and context relevant advice that I have ever heard to prepare for a school vice-principal interview! Long story short....I got the AP job!!! I want to thank you for your insight, it really helped me to hone into my points of emphasis.

During our school district's NTI, my principal sent a link to your video "Closing the attitude gap". When I looked up the video, I seen this video. I told myself that for the next interview I would watch the video. I got an interview, didn't watch the video, the principal called me and told me how well I did and to keep pushing ( I needed that encouragement because it gets hard after years of applying and not getting the job). Nevertheless, three weeks later I got another interview. I made sure I watched your video, I took notes and reviewed my notes. I feel that your words gave me the extra push I needed to excel in my interview. Afterwards, I said "When I get the job I'm going to email him" and here I am.

I appreciate all that you have done for students, especially our black males, they need us!! Now, I watched and took notes from your "You got the job now what" video, I have purchased 2 books, looking to purchase another. I believe in the work you are doing and want to support you. I'm on my third time watching this video. The first time I listened for the framework and witnessed your confidence in every word you said. The second time I listened for relatability (where do I see myself in the grand scheme of things), the third time I got up at 3:30 A.M, the morning of my interview, and took thorough notes. I paused at minute 15:05 because I was greatly inspired on your comments on "Student Achievement." I actually drew out a concept map to visualize all the things that impact students achievement based on my 13 years in the classroom! I just realized that what I just wrote will be apart of my book! I had a blast of ideas just flowing out on paper! I wished I could add a picture to this thread to show you the breath of ideas! Thank you for the inspiration! You have helped me me visualize myself in a leadership role articulating how I can be a vital component in the realm of increasing Student Achievement!
This new transition has presented itself during a time of trouble in my life! Im recently divorced after 24 years, I have a 23, 21, and 16 year old who are all doing well, lost my mother 4 months before my divorce and a grandchild. The enemy saw the great work that the Creator was setting me up for, and thus the calamity! However, he didn't know the strength that the very fabric of my intestinal fortitude was made up of! Instead of succumbing to my trials, I excelled! And now, im about to transition into a position to impact the lives of precious and valuable educators and show them how I've learned to help students achieve in life!
