Thanks for the great videos. I am from Ontario, Canada, and our process is different, but regardless, your videos helped me a tons. I just found out on Thursday that I landed my first Vice Principal (this is what we call the assistant principals) job for next school year. 😍

Very helpful for your explanations and notably, you mentioned discipline and managing behavioral issues which is what I and many teachers are very interested in because it's no secret that for public schools the number of students w/ behavioral issues is growing since a significant amount of other students are leaving the public schools for other ways to graduate or to get high school equivalency credits.
So, it'd be very informative if you can explain in detail case scenarios of behavioral issues and how a teacher and admin can manage them in a practical manner while fully considering the high workload the teacher already has which makes it very difficult to add more to it.

Any tips for thinking on your feet? I’m working on my doctorate and I’m always told to add evidence and then I get to an interview and I have to pare it down to the basics like you are explaining here. How do you process interview questions so quickly when you’re a new admin candidate?

Thanks for the advice. I wonder if you can give me some advice regarding the AP position. I am a spanish teacher, but I don't know how to use that as an advantage in an interview. Most APs in the building were core(Math, Science) subject teachers before getting the job so I was wondering if my possibilities of getting a job decrease because of that?TIA

Hello Kathleen. You are INCREDIBLE! I want you to know that I value your suggestions and insightful pointers. Thank you! I have a question and would greatly appreciate your insights. I plan on applying and interviewing for my first assistant principal position. Unfortunately, I do not have experience with formal discipline (school-wide) or experience leading PDs. What do you suggest to an individual trying to get their first assistant principal position and only has classroom experience. To attain my admin credential, I led a "community of practice" to pass the CalAPA test, but it was only for my grade and was only conducted per the requirements of the CalAPA exam. I would love your suggestions. I really appreciate any help you can provide.

I am a specialist teacher and a lot of the leadership experience I have is not building-wise but definitely departmental leadership. Is it okay to speak to this in a leadership interview?
