The broadcasting option is priceless. As far as I know, no other DJ software has this. You have to use another program to broadcast to Shoutcast, VDJ has it built right in.

Virtual DJ was nothing until they hired their lead developer, Mr Gwen Roelants, around 15-20 years ago. He had his own DJ software back then called DJ Decks - which I still use today with no controller... just straight from the laptop. I have my own way of doing things and I have been able to make it make the software work for me - it just looks old 😄. The only thing is my scratching technique with the mouse needs to be on point to sound right.

I probably tried Virtual DJ almost a decade ago and stuck with DJ Decks because it's more flexible for me. I may give it another try when I get time to fool around with it. This video helped push me in that direction.


If you want to hear mixing without a controller, I have the audio for some mixes posted, including one I did for today on an internet radio station. It takes a lot of practice to get it down... and I am old enough to have mixed with vinyl back in the 80s - which helped me with the basics.

Great video - I'm a long time VDJ user, I have to disagree with Stems though - they are the best thing about VDJ!! And I can't DJ with Quantise on, maybe that's just me!!

How do you stutters with your hotcues if you have quantize on? Seems like if the voice come in on a half beat then you have to have it off right?

after i change the bpm and grid to my preference can i lock it, so if i scan that file to analyze for bpm etc it do not go back to factory settings bpm and grid

Quantized loops still jump the track to match the beat grid, right? I don't quantize because VDJ is not always 100% accurate with the beat grid positions. Instead, I rely on my ears to push the loop button at the right time and then follow up with the jog wheel to quickly adjust any timing issues. Also, I'm gonna have to disagree with you about stems. Learn how to use them to your advantage or fall behind IMHO.

Although I disagree with a few of these suggestions, what's great about VDJ is that there are so many options that every DJ can tweak to give a 100% personalized setup. I recently tried djay Pro and was disappointed in how many of these options are missing in that app. Love their fluid beatgrid though...

This is a pretty bold claim and might only be true for some hobby/bedroom Dj's, but I never saw anyone using this live in an club environment or on a festival stage, just to be honest.

And to just try it with my hardware, I would have to pay for the Pro version as the free doesn't support it.

I just installed it and it defaults to the PRO version, i.e. $19/month. I only use it at home and I cannot figure out how to get the "free" version. I've installed twice and it only gives me the pay version. I called and no one answers the phone. I'm about to just uninstall it and find something else. What a disappointment.

Si es el mejor porque sus FX dejan tanto que desear, uso hace mas de 10 años el software y su punto mas bajo es la calidad de los efectos, de sonido ya mejoro despues del 8... Y el filtro no es tan lindo que digamos ... No se es versatil pero decir que es el mejor ...

The reason u are getting 1.0 on ur stems is most likely cause of the laptop ur using, which don't hv a designated GPU.

The stems are processed on the GPU and so u would either need a mid tier gaming laptop or an m1/ m2/ m3 Mac to use this feature live. Stem 2.0 are the cleanest on the market.

I agree with most of ur points especially with what u said about resources, speed and integration.
