I have used stems in paticular pulled out the vocals using inexpensive dj software and hardware to create new music, Its easy matching the tempo with the key. with downloaded tracks from Apple mosic for example, I have access to 100 million songs that i can find matching groves to. Its really easy.

Hi, I was using Mix Meister and I would for instance, take a sound bite, like M Caine "I told you to blow the bloody doors off" and insert it into a beat. Is this kinda of thing possible with virtual DJ? I can't seem to find a view where the songs are in wave form and layered to do this sort of chopping. Any tips would be appreciated

Are stems rooted in layered/multi-track audio or are they actually isolating and separating the vocals in real time? Can this be done using any audio file or does the song have to be from a vdj source?
