Not a dj, but i used to prep songs and mark/fix their beat. If you do your homework, sync never fails. Im a fan of "doing the prep once and saving hundreds of hassle later"

That's why I always say that you have to know the songs, and work on them beforehand, like adjusting the beat grid, this is very important for those who use sync. Great tip for beginners.

I always prepare my tracks before recording a set or playing out to people. Buy the tracks, in to Platinum Notes, then Mixed in key and finally I play the full tracks and set cue points accordingly.

Agree! Manual beat match is major 🔑 and I use sync for quick mixing & manual beat match when needed. I do my best to correct my beat grids on the fly as well as before hand.

Thank you for making this video. As a dj it seems like everyone relays on sync and using waveforms and beat matching is an outdated way of mixing. In reality you NEED to know how to beat match if you want to be a dj. No matter how well you can spin using sync and waveforms you won't ever have the true skill of djing

As a beginner dj I keep hearing this not using Sync thing a lot… I get the beat matching aspect as he explained, but what about using sync for syncing tempos, I don’t have enough time as a beginner DJ to be adjusting the tempo manually before each song to match it…

Beat matching, one of the most important lost art of mixing that's been lost. This is completely no negotiable on vinyl and what makes mixing it so fun as it's a fine line to cock it up or sound amazing!

Never had an issue with vinyl. Oh how the times have changed. I remember using serato with vinyl for the first time blew my mind. Never used sync or prepped mixers just benders and lots of tunes

Can also prepare better from home instead, that way your grid will always be on point. You don't need sync if you do your homework anyway 😅

Also to add, with advance technology, most DJ softwares (we are so spoiled nowadays) should allow you to edit the beat grid prior to a gig, so it is important to know your set by curating your crate and simulating it ahead of time. And yes, it’s important to learn to use the tools to manually beat match in case you get caught by surprise!

Sync works well with 4/4 beats- house/ techno ect if you catch it on the kick but with 4/4 beats with a step like dnb its not so easy. I would just sync the track before mixing in
