I’m an old Dj from the 80’s and after years of being away I’m getting mesmerized with all the new technology we have available now. I tried Serato first, influenced by the industry standards and comments but, as it doesn’t support the budget controller I happen to have, I went to VDJ, which supports way more controllers. So I couldn’t experience Serato, I’m discovering VDJ and I find it A-MA-ZING, I don’t understand why people criticize the large amount of features it has, that, by the way, they are optional, you can leave them alone. And, isn’t that what you want as a DJ? In the 80’s we couldn’t even dream about everything we can do now, the way we can manipulate the tracks and mixes is astonishing. Now I can understand how Armin Van Buuren does some things, even though he uses Ableton.
And the analogy with Apple and Android does not make any sense to me, Apple is great, I’m an Apple lover, but I consider Apple is great for the end user, as an end user I just want a product that I can just turn on and use with no big deals, extremely intuitive, that’s Apple’s success, I love when I buy a new Mac plug in Time Machine and in a few minutes I have a clone. BUT, I believe a DJ is no end user, a DJ is a pro, and a pro must have the best and as many tools as possible.
That’s my opinion.

4:25 Shift + Arrow is built-in by default utilises different buttons. On a MAC it is Command + Left or Right Arrow Key. A useful tip for mapping other things though so thanks for sharing.

Glad to see serato users opening up to giving VDJ a chance in seeing what it has to offer.... but 1 key piece of info u missed before making this vid is that VDJ has a mapping in their settings that make the keyboard shortcuts work like serato so u won't hv to do all those mappings to the keyboard.

In the options menu, go to 'mapping', then on the top right hand side of the screen u will see a lil box with a drop down arrow. Select the one that says 'factory default Optional' and close it. From there the keyboard layout would reflect that serato to help serato users find their flow better.

Having an extremely hard time finding the right audio setup to mix vinyl timecodes. It reads my sound card off the back but doesn’t work. Any clue?
