Man sues San Diego Police Department for racially profiling, breaking car window during stop

A San Diego man is suing the city's police department for negligence and brutality after smashing his car window during a routine traffic stop off the 805 freeway in Southcrest.

He served nearly a decade for conspiracy to commit murder. That charge was overturned, but is currently still on his record. He says that, in addition to his skin color, has made him a target.

On May 9, 2024, San Diego Police Officers pulled over 31-year-old Nicholas Hoskins for not making a complete stop at an intersection.

If it was a traffic stop write him a ticket and go about your day. Running a stop sign isn't grounds to search his property.

If a plaintiff wins a law suit against a police department, the officer themselves needs to be made responsible to pay that department back as a government debt.

I have never been asked to get out for a traffic violation. You do not have to break anyone's window for any reason yet alone a darn stop sign.
