I checked my cpu temp for the first time after 2 years and it was 97°C, adding a new fan didnt do anything but redoing the therm paste brought it down to 55°! Thanks for the vid

bruh. My CPU was overheating so I tried to replace the thermal paste. But I discovered I never took the protective sticker of CPU cooler

One tip: do this after you have played on the pc about 10 minutes so that the thermal are soft, this make the progress easier

You never want to TWIST and at the same time PULL it with PGA cpus. Either twist, or pull, NEVER both. You can bend pins that way!

Oh damn 😭 i remember the first time I was building my pc I didn't know how much you needed to apply, i looked at the little syringe and emptied it onto the cpu, had to clean it off the cover, top and sides.

Paper towels and cotton swabs leave behind tiny fibers. Use a microfiber cloth instead.

Also, coffee filters work well at cleaning off old thermal paste if you don't have anything else. They are cheap, come in huge bundles and can take a little alcohol without falling to shreds like tissue paper.

When you know all these things, but is still nice to watch youtube videos about it.

Maybe a video on common problems faced after a applying thermal paste or core changing (both after effects and mistakes) would be nice

thank you for not making a 15 min video for 5 mins of actual content ive been looking for a shorter video and you came up

Using paper towels has a problem- lint. You can use fancy wipes or eyeglass cloths or something but, the easiest thing to use is coffee filters.

my pc is due for this, plus i love how dusty and dirty his close ups are, it doesn't make me feel ashamed at all.

Added note: Disconnect the Motherboard from the PSU I also prefer the spreading method on the CPU paste. The thermal paste is only used to fill the tiny gaps of space between the cpu and the cpu cooler. Use as thing as possible, this will increase the efficiency.

Holy fuck, the amount of miss information on thermal paste application is just crazy. This guy did a good job! but your worst nightmare is not applying enough paste. Use moderate amounts of paste because the surface of cpu dies and heat sinks are never perfect. If you are using conductive paste then 80% coverage is fine to avoid spillage on the board.

Only people who over clock to the electrical and physical limit of the cpu need to worry about thickness of thermal paste. Usually these people lap or remove the die plate to achieve better results. If you are doing this then you worry about thickness.
All Heatsink clamps have a torque/screw limiter/washer to prevent pressing all the paste away.

You can build an engine and it could be for a lawnmower, your moms car, a ferrari or an F1 car. Its up to you to determine the work required. Not all computers are F1 cars. Most of them are your moms car.

I'm not a pro builder or anything, I just know a lot of stuff about computers, but you don't need to get your cpu out of the socket to apply the new paste right? you can just wipe the remaining paste after 2.5-4 years and apply new one and put on the cooler?

Been hesitant on replacing my crashed MOBO, I was "scared" to ruin my cpu and a new MOBO. Prime day has a great deal on a MSI MOBO and I think this is enough convincing to do it.. also, great English considering it isn't your first language! 🤙🏻 Thank you!

Thermal paste should come with a pre droplet squirt. Like the pancake batter machines they make pancakes the exact size all the time. Why can't they make a thermal paste droplet like that?

Great video, thanks for sharing.

Hello Bro. Thanks for video. I have a doubt. I bought Cooler Master- Master Gel Pro. And a Grease Cleaner came with the package. What is this grease cleaner for? How to use it.?

why would you cut/edit the part where you are actually applying the "right" amount of paste. It goes from a tiny spot to a blob with no reference to how long it took you. SMH. Also you can use coffee filters to remove thermal paste if you don't have any paper towels.

I have one question I actually got a really cheap thermal paste from Amazon and now my cpu is overheating. So should I get a more expensive thermal paste for my cpu? Will it cool my cpu more than the cheap one I got?
