If you have accidentally gotten some thermal paste on your CPU pins, then in this video I will show you how to clean it off without bending any of the pins.

Just snap the pins off, it's much easier to clean that way

You forgot to push some pins to the side to allow easier access for the brush to clean off the paste

Your actually supposed to cover the pins in solder and rub the soldering iron across the cpu very aggressively

Hey, thank you for this quick and simple guide! I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 7 3700X today and accidentally got a small bit of TP on 3 pins on the Ryzen 5. I thought I was thoroughly f***ed. Good to know I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Also, I realized that I originally used WAY too much paste when I installed the Ryzen 5, so this time I applied a smaller amount.

Thermal paste is silicone based and doesn't actually dissolve in alcohol. I use lighter fluid, one that's naphtha based like Zippo's does the trick, also dissolves most sticker residue, really handy.

Honestly glad I saw this since I was rebuilding my computer and I had a little bit of thermal paste on my fingers and it got on my old cpu. Upgrading from a 120mm to a 240mm aio, semi modular to a fully modular power supply with same wattage but higher rating and I’m upgrading my cpu from a 2600 to a 5800x
