The Tank That Once Broke Top Tier

Some of you guys might not have played War Thunder long enough to remember it, but there was a brief period of time where the American M1 Abrams main battle tank absolutely wrecked balance at top tier. When the M1 was added, its main competitors were the German Leopard 2K and Russian T-64B. While powerful in their own right, these tanks were not as strong as the M1. The M1 was almost impossible to ammo rack thanks to the blowout panels in the bustle, it was the fastest MBT around, and it had decent armor. Nowadays, things are a bit different. The M1 can still do some damage, but it is outclassed by much more capable tanks. Its saving grace is that it often gets downtiers against T-72 TURMS players.

I love the Abrams tanks, it just really sucks how Gaijin has not given us a newer one then the M1a2 in over 2 years. While the USSR has gotten several MBT's all with incredible optics and addon armor kits. The U.S seriously could use the SepV2 at this point the SepV1 can be entirely skipped its practically a year late.

It's basically a lighter Panther, so basically a medium tank with decent mobility, workable armor and a good gun.

KPZ/MBT-70 when they were released were so oppresive that Gaijin hard-blocked America and Germany from being on the same team for three years, probably the closest top tier to the Abrams in terms of how much it fucked with Gaijin.

As a person who joined War Thunder in October of 2020 (just before new power update), I'll think I'll take my time heading to top tier, judging by how many times people are getting killed easily (not that I have a choice as well, can't afford premium and the grind Horrible).

I think the funniest thing early on with the M1 was that any ammo that was detonated in the bustle without killing the tank counted as spent ammo so players had to pay for the lost ammo and people were griefing them by detonating their bustle racks before killing them when they got the chance.

I remember most of the community though that it would be the t64b that was going to dominate.

And then i remember a personal experience from that time i remember being really annoyed that Germany got a prototype Leo 2 instead of a production model like a Leo 2a1. I did get over it and the fact that the 2k was really good as well.

I was still on the MBT-70 when the Abrams dropped, I remember our teams getting our shit pushed in constantly by T-64s and Leo 2ks. Any memory of it being an OP tank doesn't exist.

Edit: I also enjoy seeing that 105 go through the side of a T-72 TURMST with no problems as my Challenger 2 struggles to do it with a 120.

Alright so a good video idea would be discussing the TUSK system for the abrams and why or why not it would be a good addition to the game. Personally Im all for having an Abrams with TUSK, because one, its just ERA armor for the Abrams and two, it would allow more people to learn about the TUSK system overall which alot of people genuinely dont know about

Why would they nerf m774? It's not even a good round at 10.0 and it only has like 350mm of pen. Other nations get the equivalent to m800 at that br. I honestly think Gaijin just hates America.

I grinded the M1 the patch it debut and the t64B was the counter-part they added and back then M774 was really really good. Back then nothing could touch it lol. Good times.. Then on the 4 day I got a talisman for it in a battle trophy.... The rest is history.

Love the unloved play the XP 55 it can turn at 11 g's and outperforms a mustang in many ways so many people sleep on it it is one of my favorite aircraft in the entire game
