Despite being one of the greatest duelests of all time Palpatine held great disdain for light saber combat, seeing it as inferior to dark side force powers or political manipulation. However, Palpatine owned two of the most elegantly designed sabers of all time. These sabers were decorated with a vast amount of electrum, a metal that was symbolic in Jedi culture and showcased a mastery over the force. The meticulous electrum design was not only meant to show his vast wealth, it was directly utilised to mock his opponents by suggesting he was far stronger in the force than even the greatest of Jedi.
