Also, another reason it’s great like you were saying, but sometimes during an emergency situation, you can scrounge up some propane tanks sometimes easier than gas depending on the time of year. Thanks for the great information. Keep it coming.

Use ethanol free fuel if you can to prevent un-wanted moisture entering the carb which will create rust but even ethanol free fuel goes foul just like regular fuel and will clog the carb tunnels and the jets which will require it to be removed and fully flushed out and jet cleaning, easy process but very time consuming. Yea it had ethanol free fuel and the carb was still clean but the fuel was fouled and the jets were clogged. So i had to remove and fully flush and clean it, now she runs and purr's .... I was really good at running it once per month for like 30 min to keep the fuel flowing but got side tracked and forgot about it and it sat for over a year.
My other generator is a dual fuel but its never had gasoline before and its been propane fed since day one. That one sat for 2 yrs not running but fired up with no issue on propane, so yea, propane is much cleaner and the carbs dont foul out or clog.

And i can smell the exhaust from the gas generator and the propane generator and its a huge different in smell. The gas one is very strong and you need to keep away from it where the propane exhaust, its not bad at all ....

Adding a propane powered generator would be a smart addition to my solar set ups and my Ecoflow Delta Pro back up power source. My son has that Champion 4500 unit. I still haven’t unboxed my Predator 2000. 😵‍💫. Great info here, thanks!

Good stuff. I got tired of having to clean my generator carb so I switched my old Generac over to a tri-fuel set up. I also have a small dual fuel inverter gen for my bus that hasn't seen a drop of gas in it.

At 1:18 point you say propane/natural gas generators have a 10-15% lower lifetime, why is that? With cleaner oil etc I would have thought the opposite to be true?

So in the case of the ecoflow smart generator, does the dual fuel unit have this same propane bypass that the gasoline only version wouldn't have? I recall you were recommending the gas stand alone with a homemade put together upgrade for dual fuel / tri-fuel over buying the dedicated dual fuel generator and I'm curious about that for the future since I already got the dual fuel version

Except on an inverter generator with electronic fuel injection. I have a Honda EU7000is. It’s both an inverter & has electronic fuel injection. There are after market parts you can buy to convert Honda generators to run on propane.

Propane doesn’t last very long. It’s a great option for a cook top though. Very grateful for my PTO generator and my diesel tractor. Plus with a 75 gallon transfer tank on my Cummins, it can run a long time. Hard to beat for hurricane preparedness here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

I can store propane much longer than storing gas. Safer storing propane as well.
