Don't Buy A Generator Until You See This Monster!

This is currently the most powerful portable inverter generator you can buy for backup power. Is this the perfect backup generator for your home? It has one great feature if you use an interlock like I do for your generator connection. This is the GENMAX GM10500iETC Tri Fuel Inverter Generator. With 10,500 watts of power available this generator delivers monster power for backup power in an emergency. Is it a Honda killer? I don't know but it definitely eats the Predator up.

This is the sister channel, wait maybe cousin. I don't know. It's the second HAXMAN channel. Here I can show more gear reviews for survival, gardening, off-road, emergency preps, off-grid, and landscaping. You know, basic man stuff. I'll also show projects that don't quite fit on HAXMAN.

I bought a firman generator a few years back after losing $500 worth meat in my freezer. I hated spending $1, 000 on something that would mostly live in my shed. Turns out we lost power about 6 times that year. The best $1, 000 I ever spent.

I own a 20+ year old B&S powered 8500 watt gasoline generator. I always turn the gas tank off and let it run until it stops. I've never had a problem with it working first try when I turn the gas back on.

Reading some bad reviews on Amazon for this thing's Quality Control. Their customer service is also said to be nonexistent. Hopefully they get this worked out soon.

Great video:

I currently just set up a pair of WEN 12kW dual fuels for a customer of mine...

24kW max spike output.

One thing that I would suggest as a small engine mechanic over almost three decades. ...the break in oil should never be synthetic. Conv oil run over two hours works much better to set the rings.

Where are you going to get parts when something breaks? I just had a Duromax inverter in the shop with the propane switch had no power coming to it. Couldn't get parts so Duromax is replacing the unit since it is under warranty. But what happens when it is out of warranty? You need to be able to get parts easily.

Just a slight correction- The 50amp plug will supply 50amps but only in 120v mode. If you select 240v, the 50amp plug is limited to 35amps without a parallel connection.

Great video. Have you seen the Westinghouse iGen11000DFc inverter? There are no test videos on YouTube. I'm looking for a whole house setup and the Westinghouse is about $1k less expensive than Genmax.

For a bonded neutral generator all you have to do is disconnect the ground from the neutral terminal and wrap the ground connector with electrical tape. Now it's no longer a bonded neutral and is safe to use with grounded power panels.

My approach is different: I go with the smallest generator that will meet my maximum basic need, anticipating that fuel may be hard to get, and smaller generators typically use less fuel. And they’re going to be quieter. Living in Alaska, I don’t want my pipes to freeze in the winter, so I need to power the circulating pump on the gas boiler. Put food outside, don’t need a fridge. Maybe power a couple of lights. In the summer, I don’t need heat or lights, but do need the fridge. Propane keeps indefinitely, so better than gas, and doesn’t clog up the carburetor, but is less efficient. Easily stored. I agree, don’t use gas in it, except for initial testing, then run it dry, drain the carb bowl, and later run your periodic tests with propane after that. Having a generator can be very useful, but keeping it it’s box until you need it on a cold, dark, windy, wet night without any break-in period or familiarity, or test runs, and without knowing more or less specifically what you really want to accomplish, and not having all the infrastructure in place, may make for a less than desired experience. Having the natural gas option with the tri-fuel setup is ideal. Have a plumber run a gas line for you, using quick disconnects. In all of our power outages over the years, the gas has never been out, so in theory we have an endless supply of fuel. But there’s no guaranty of that, so have plenty of fuel (propane is my suggestion) stored away. And however much you have stored, when the time comes that you need it, you’ll probably wish you had more. And for a long term outage, my fuel will be reserved for cooking and purifying water, not running a generator to power the house, if need be.

That thing is a BEAST! I had to look it up since mine looks way smaller and weighs about 125 lbs. That bad boy is a 458cc 4 stroke coming in around 250 lbs. If I could afford it I would totally buy that. Great video good sir! Would definitely like to see some decibel readings in the future!

Cool to see this mammoth with motorized wheels, or caterpillars, and much respect to the company to include all those accessories.

Totally agree in not using gas on your Tri Fuel generator. I own a dual fuel generator and I strictly use propane, since it is a cleaner fuel than gas since and it has longer shelf life.

Nice presentation. Wish this was available when I bought my Honda gen. The one caveat I have are those GFI outlets are very sensitive. I removed my and installed standard outlets because of random cutouts. Hard to beat that price!

try pouring the oil with the oil bottle sideways it wont have the giant air bubbles and pours smooth.

How clean does it burn the propane? Could you isolate it with an adaptive exhaust and enclose most of it with noise cancellation insulation? Or would it generate too much heat? Seems like the side panels were plastic.

There is a really cheap part you can put on your A/C Condenser that helps it start up easier. By trade I'm a plumber but installed one on my mom's. It was recommended by the generator company. They offered to install it for a couple hundred dollars but I spent $20 and about 10 minutes to do it myself.

Did I hear you correctly, you are running lights, fridge, 3.5 ton AC, and a well pump with less than 5000 watts? The AC alone should be using 4000 of that. And that is not talking about peak start up power for the AC and well pump. Am I not seeing something?

Can you help me understand what the interlock kit has to do with your bonded or floating neutral? I don't understand the correlation. Thanks!
