Knowing the bike course has helped me many times to get good results! Maybe a bit of an overkill but I try to be in the area about 10-14 days before the race and able to explore the route several times. All what you've said; know where the climbs are, how steep and long, which gear you should use so you can pace the climb well. And also the descents, instead of stopping to peddle, keep on pushing and hammering so you can overtake others (especially since you've paced the climb you've got energy compared to the tired athletes that gave too much on the climb). The corners are very important as well so you know how tight the corner is and if you can stay in aero position or have to put your hands at the brakes. Be smart and think about the best way to ride the route.
And maybe something that is overlooked by some: clean your bike! I've seen dirty bikes in the parc fermee and I've heard squeaking drive chains from athletes that I overtook! A clean bike is a fast bike! Clean your drive chain, cassette, derailleur, and lube it properly.

Good advice Mark. Especially fueling on the ride helped me set up on the run.

Great tips! How about a video on riding to power, especially riding uphill? I have to consistently increase my power by at least 20%, and sometimes up to 2x depending on the gradient, otherwise I feel like I will fall over. And advice on limiting surges would also be appreciated.

I chose tyres with low rolling resistance. Wheels is always spins but your drive chain, so the effect is strong and constant.

i find spinning up helps with long distance also changing riding position between hoods, drops and aero position really helps me stay loose

Great video. No tips from me but i concur that you gain a lot by knowing the course. I think it builds confidence and that is almost as valuable as physical energy on the day (perhaps it supports mental energy?).

Great Intro!

I was fully expecting (another) video about the best aero position, but hoping for something different.
